chain.
Guest: Thank you for asking us if the meal was frst class. Unfortunately, I cant say yes.

Guest: Nothing really serious but several small matters were incorrect and I did not expect them in
this restaurant.
Head waiter: Could you give me examples, please?
Guest: First of all, the wine. It was a good quality bottle of red. It should arrive at the table unopened
for inspection. It arrived already opened and the waiter simply left it on the table without
pouring it or asking for comments on its taste. Fortunately, the temperature and taste were
good.
Head waiter: I really am sorry, sir. That was wrong. The problem is that the waiter is a new member of staff.
Guest: The side dish of vegetables arrived before the main meat course and was then not hot enough.
Head waiter: Again, sir, I can only apologize. Do you stay with us often, sir?
Guest: Regularly within your hotel chain but this is my frst visit to this hotel.
Head waiter: When are you leaving sir?
Guest: Tomorrow morning.
Head waiter: Then would you please accept dinner tonight free of charge to show that we can perform
properly.
Guest: Thank you very much.

do we need pizza at all
I regularly dine out. I love visiting pizzerias and cafes. Pizza comes from Italy but now it belongs to the whole
world. Italians are irritated by the way pizza is made all over the world.
They say that cooks should not be allowed to play with their culture. So they want a pizza recipe that starts
Nopineapple.
Now pizza belongs to New York and Chicago as well as Naples. Italians took it to the new world and made
it something else. We would like pizza chefs all over the world to stop adding oriental sauces or spices to the
recipe. The secret of a perfect pizza is not what you put on it; its what you leave off it.

Sometimes people go to a bar for a cup of coffee.Coffee is a well-loved drink all over the world. Its popularity

Nearly every home has a coffee maker, but coffee is best (and often) drunk in a bar. And no one on earth makes
better coffee than a bartender.
Bartenders make coffee in large, espresso-type machines. They use high quality, medium-roasted beans rather

Waiters are the men and women who take orders and serve food in restaurants throughout the

that the cooks can prepare each dish exactly as requested.
When the food is ready, waiters carry it from the kitchen to the tables. Good waiters remember what each
person has ordered and can place the correct dish in front of the person who ordered it. This kind of service
assures good tips and brings customers back to the restaurant. Waiters give constant attention to the guests.
They refll coffee cups and water glasses and ask if guests want to order anything else. They also record the

Read the following text and try to understand the underlined words form the context.
I think its a shame that most breakfasts in this day and age are eaten on the run. Even when we take the time
to make a more complicated breakfast, our family is keen to start the day and just dont want to sit around
the table talking. Serve breakfast foods for dinner and you get the best of both worlds; talking and relaxing
at the end of the day, and delicious, comforting, very simple foods.
Scrambled Eggs is one of my favorite recipes. Its simple and comforting, and lets you prepare eggs
for a family without having to stand over the stove while everybody else eats. The side dishes are great
complements to this simple main dish. And best of all, everything except the eggs and the sausage and
bacon can be made ahead of time.
Chocolate Chip Coffee Cake is a great dessert (plus, you get to eat leftovers on the run tomorrow morning!)
that has a brown sugar trickle running through a meltingly tender cake. Make it ahead of time so it can
mellow. And enjoy this wonderful meal as leisurely as possible with your family.
