CR Formula

Let CR meter reading = R , Length of conductor used = L mtr, Ambient temperature at the time of experiment = t C, Correction factor (CRF) at that temperature t C = Y, Then

Conductance resistance (CR) of given conductor = (R * Y * 1000) / L /KM . (i)

Example: 1) 16/0.200Coil at 20 C Here R = 3.42 L = 100 mtr. t = 20 C Y = 1, Then, corrected CR = (3.42 * 1 * 1000) / 100 = 34.2 /KM 2) 12 Core x 1.5 SqMM Drum of length 1020 Meter at Temp 25 C Here R = 10.52 L = 1020 mtr. t = 25 C Y = 0.9804 Then, corrected CR = (10.52 * 0.9804 * 1000) / 1020 = 10.11 /KM

IR Formula
IR is known as Insulation Resistance. This is the resistance of PVC used to insulate the conductors. IR varies according to the temperature of atmosphere (ambient temperature). So IRF is used to find out correct IR. Let The reading of IR meter = R Ambient temperature at the time of testing = t C IR correction factor (IRF) at temperature t C = Y Length of sample tested = L Then

Corrected IR = (R * Y * L)/ 1000 M/ KM........................................................................... (ii)

Example: 1) A sample of 3 meter from 16/0.200Coil at 50 C in water bath. Here R = 5000 M t = 50 C Y=1 L = 3 mtr Then corrected IR = (5000 * 1 * 3)/ 1000 = 15.0 M/ KM 2) A sample of 3 meter length of 12 Core x 1.5 SqMM at 50 C Here R = 5000 M t = 50C Y= 1 L= 3 mtr Then corrected IR = (5000 * 1 * 3)/1000 = 15M/ KM INSULATION THICKNESS HC VOLATGE 0.5 mm 2.5 KV for 5 mins 0.8+ mm 5.0 KV for 5 mins
