She jumped right into the classroom, and has already adjusted wonderfully. She is such a happy girl! She is already eating lunch with us and spends a lot of her time army crawling around the class and persistently heading after toys and friends. Kynzie is getting so big! She has now joined us for breakfast in the morning and loves eating. She spends most of her time rolling around for toys and giggling at everyone around her. She is also working on sitting up on her own. She is a very happy girl, and loves playing peek-a-boo! Olive is becoming more and more alert! She loves watching her friends play, and is happily rolling around and heading after toys. She has started eating dinner at home and is doing wonderfully with foods. Her hand-eye coordination is also improving and she loves teething on all of the fun toys! Isabella is another one of our new friends! We cannot believe the summer has already flown by and September is here! A lot is happening this month, from moveups to farewells. We will be saying goodbye to Miss Michelle this month as she moves back home to Fresno to be with her family. Miss Michelle has been with us since June, and she will be greatly missed! In the meantime, Miss Lauren will be taking over as lead teacher in the infant classroom. But this also means that we get to welcome a new teacher to our staff, Miss Sarah Ferrin. We will also do lots of coloring this week to help us learn our colors. We will get to use crayons, markers and colored pencils, maybe even some sidewalk chalk. After we talk about colors, we will talk about shapes. Shapes on Parade are what we will call this week. We will get to play with all different kinds of blocks that are different shapes, shape puzzles, and Legos (squares and rectangles). We cant wait to learn about stars, hearts and crescents. The last week in September we will talk about Nursery Rhymes. Im a Little Teapot, Baa Baa Black Sheep, and Jack and Jill are just a few of the nursery rhymes we will learn. We will have art to go along with each rhyme. Miss Anitra has some special nursery rhyme flannel boards that she will share with us at circle. If your child is starting to go potty at home, please let me know so we can start trying at school, also. I am so excited for my new class and know its going to be a great year.

Intermediate Room: Mrs. Sara & Ms. Jessica & Miss Kayla
What a great Summer we had. Though we are sad to see it go, we are excited for a new school year with new friends and families. We have lots planned for this year, and Jessica, Kayla and I are looking forward to watch Intermediate grow and learn. We work hard in here developing self help skills and encouraging friends that they can do it. We use our "Helping Hands" to delegate tasks for friends to do on a daily basis, like having them make their beds and choose healthy lunch items first out of their lunch boxes. It's all about learning and most importantly having fun here in Intermediate. For our second week we are going to talk about Birthdays. Our dress up will be a kitchen where we can bake cakes and use decorations to have a party. We will be learning about our own birthdays and encouraging friends to learn the actual date. Our sensory table will have real cake batter to explore and we will be able to cut ribbons and wrapping paper too. We will be making a special snack on Thursday 9/13, of birthday cupcakes. There will be lots of art work around the room so coming into intermediate it is going to be very festive. The final week we are going to be rhyming with nursery rhymes. We are going to be reading Humpty Dumpty, The Little Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe, and Hickory Dickory just to name a few. We will talk about words that rhyme and words that don't. We will have felt boards out to learn about story sequence, and also fun art work so we can retell our nursery rhymes at home. Our sensory table will have Three Blind Mice in it and plums to pull out in playdough like Little Jack did. We look forward to this month, which is going to be filled with lots of fun and learning. Please check our donation tree to see what you can do to help in making the learning more fun. If you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to talk to Mrs. Sara or Ms. Jessica and here's to another great month here in Intermediate.

Pre-K : Mrs. Jennifer & Miss Kristie & Miss Hannah

Well, Pre-K is back from their adventure around the world, and boy did we have a blast! Our first destination was Egypt where we learned about pyramids, camels, pharaohs, and mummies! Next we traveled further east to discover the wonders of India. Pre-K had a great time learning some Bollywood dance moves and dancing with streamers to the bangra beat! We also learned about tigers, peacocks, and the Taj Mahal. We started our next week in the beautiful countryside of Italy and enjoyed plenty of pasta-themed activities! Our La Familia luncheon was delicious and Miss Kristie loved celebrating her birthday with all her Pre-K friends. During our time in Japan, we learned about Japanese culture (you must bow to each other when you meet a new friend, to show respect) and some Japanese words (Konichiwa means hello, Sayonara means goodbye!) and Pre-K caught on super fast! We also practiced a Japanese style of painting cherry blossoms and they turned out lovely. We have some outstanding artists in Pre-K! While Mrs. Jen was on vacation, Pre-K saw the sights in Paris, France. While listening to French music, we constructed the Eiffel Tower out of toothpicks, painted some gorgeous Fleur de Lis, and decorated jeweled hearts to represent the international city of love. We watched the movie "The Aristocrats" and Pre-K thought it was hilarious. As we came to the end of our adventure, we said Au-revior to Paris and made our last stop in Spain. Miss Hannah told us stories and showed us pictures from her trip there, and we got to look at a huge map and see all the places she visited. Pre-K also had fun constructing the Spanish flag, sparkling soccer balls, and bulls to represent some of Spain's national symbols. We had a wonderful three weeks abroad, even though some of our jet-setters had to take off for kindergarten. We will miss them, but we are already having a ton of fun with our new friends from Intermediate. September means it's time to learn Who's Who in Pre-K! We will get to know our new friends, new routines, and even learn some new things about ourselves. We will spend the beginning of the month getting used to the new schedule and remembering new rules, and we will compare our school routines with our home routines. During Circle Time, we will practice recognizing our names and see if we know how to spell them yet. We will practice writing the initial of our first name and do lots of name themed songs and art projects. During the second week of September we will be learning about our emotions. We will talk about all the different emotions we can have and why we have them. We will also learn how to use our words to describe how we feel and how to talk to a friend if they are doing something we don't like. We will also be working on memorizing when our birthday is, and what we like to do to celebrate those special days. Our Dramatic Play area will be set up like a house, and we will make some beautiful birthday decorations and party hats so we can throw a birthday bash every day in Pre-K. Miss Kristie will be on vacation for a week and a half this month (Sept. 10-19), so Miss Hannah will be joining us in the mornings to help out. Pre-K is excited to have her come play with us for some more full days! The third week of September will be spent talking about our family and friends. All of our families are different, and we want to celebrate that! We will read stories about all different kinds of families and talk about what we love about each other. We will also talk about our friends and how we should treat one another with kindness. This will lead into our unit for the fourth week of September, where we will learn all about manners. Pre-K will practice proper etiquette for meals and learn about respecting our elders. We will meet a new friend named Wise Old Owl and he will teach us many lessons throughout the year about how to be a good friend and how to behave at school. During the afternoon we will be learning about a special member of some families: pets! We will make a chart of our favorite kind of pet, and if we have one or not. We will have lots of cute art projects to display so make sure to check them out. PreK will begin the transition into October by continuing to learn about ourselves while we discuss body parts and the five senses. We are looking forward to a great school year and we hope you are all excited too!
