LEARNING STANDARD:
2.1.1 Able to identify and distinguish the shapes of letters in the alphabets. 2.1.2(b) Able to recognise and articulate initial, medial and final sounds in single syllable words within context /m/ and /n/. 2.1.3 Able to blend two to four phonemes into recognizable words and read them aloud. 2.1.4 Able to segment words into phonemes to spell. 2.2.3 Able to read and understand sentences (3-5 words) in linear and non-linear texts with guidance.
:The pupils already learnt the grapheme/s/, /a/, /t/ and /p/ on the previous lesson. They also are able to blend the phonemes to form words with the four graphemes learnt.
OBJECTIVES
:By the end of the lesson, 40 out of 40 pupils will be able to: (a)identify phonemes /m/ and /n/ (b)match six spoken words to written words correctly (c)match six written words to pictures correctly (d)read a chant with correct pronunciation

Teachers Activity 1. Teacher asks two pupils to blow a balloon containing two letter cards (m and n) until explode. 2. Teacher shows the letter cards and asks pupils what are the name of the letters. 3. Teacher tells the pupils that they are going to learn two new letters and sounds today, which are m and n. 1. Teacher shows word cards and picture cards with letters m and n (the letters are in initial, medial and final position). 2. Teacher drills the pupils to associate the letters m and n with words and pictures. e.g /m/ for man /n/ for nap Step 3 (10 minutes) Blending phonemes to form words. 1. Teacher says the phonemes aloud while showing the letter cards. e.g /m/ /a/ /n/ m a n 1. Pupils repeat after teacher to blend the phonemes to form words. 2. Closure (2 minutes)
1. A pupil make actions of the phonemes e.g : /m/ action of licking an ice cream /a/ action of ants crawling on the shoulder /t/ action of bird chirping 2. The other pupils to guess the phonemes and say the 17

Enrichment activity
Pupils work in group and list out words start with the phoneme /m/ and /n/. Teacher drills the pupils to blend phonemes to form words in small groups. Pupils are able to fill in missing letters in the lyrics of the chant.
