SELECTION OF WATER CEMENT RATIO From Table 5 of IS 456 : 2000, the maximum water cement ratio = 0.45 Adopted water Cement ratio = 0.40 Which is less than 0.45 above SELECTION OF WATER CONTENT Page 2 of 9
From Table 2 of IS 10262 : 2009, maximum water content for 20 mm aggregate Water content for 100 mm slump

As superplasticizer is used, the water content is reduced upto 15% Similarly as fly ash is added(10% of cement used), water content is reduced another 2.5% The water content arrived = 197 litres x 0.825 = 163 litres
CALCULATION OF CEMENT AND FLY ASH CONTENT Water cement ratio = Cement = Add 10% fly ash = Water cementitious ratio (exclg super plasticizer) 0.40 163/0.40 = 408 say 410 kg 410 x 0.10 = 41 say 40 kg = 163/450 = 0.362
PROPORTIONING OF VOLUME OF COARSE & FINE AGGREGATES CONTENT From Table 3 of IS 10262 : 2009, the volume of coarse aggregate corresponding to 20 mm size aggregate and fine aggregate (Zone II) for water cement ratio of 0.50 = 0.62 In this case water cement ratio is 0.40 . Therefore volume of coarse aggrgate is required to be increased to decrease the fine aggregate content . As the water cement ratio is lower by 0.10 , the proportion of volume of coarse aggregat is increased by 0.02 (at the rate 0f 0.01 for every 0.05 change in water cement ratio) Therefore corrected proportion of volume of coarse aggregate for the water cement ratio of 0.40 = 0.64 For pumpable concrete this value be reduced by 10 percent Therefore volume of coarse aggrgate content = 0.64 x 0.9 = 0.576 Volume of fine aggregate content = 1.000 - 0.576 = 0.424 say say 0.58 0.42
