Geography (Mains) Question Paper 2008

Paper -I
Time Allowed : Three Hours Maximum Marks : 300

Candidates should attempt Questions 1 and 5 which are compulsory, and any three of the remaining questions selecting at least one question from each Section . All questions carry equal marks.

Section A

Discuss the mechanics and origin of the monsoon winds and explain the role of El Nino on Monsoon circulation. 4. Describe the ideal conditions for coral reef formation and discuss the glacial control theory of coral reef formation.

5. Write short notes on any three of the following in about 200 words each: a). Desertification as an environmental hazards b). Primate Cities c). Seafloor spreading theory d). Behavioral Geography 6. Discuss the social and economic theories of population growth.
