Purpose : This procedure is used as work instruction for Turbine Operator, Desk and Field Engineer and Shift Incharge Scope : This procedure explains Startup of CEP and its isolation Responsibility: TG operator, Desk/Field Engineer, Shift In charge. Procedure: Before Starting: 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) Check the permits issued for the above equipment are returned. Suction valve should be open. Open suction relief valve. Oil level in Thrust bearing should be normal Open the inlet & outlet valves of DMCW line to thrust bearing and ensure that DMCW pump is running. 6) Open the valves for staffing box sealing (both CEP discharge & overhead CST) 7) Open the bypass of discharge valve. 8) Open the GSC inlet & outlet valves (CD-7 & CD-8) 9) Open the isolation valves of CD-25 (Minimum recirculation line). 10) Open the isolation valves of CD-21 (Excess Return line to overhead CST). 11) Open the isolation valves of DM-20 (Emergency make up to Condenser). 12) Open the isolation valves of DM-15 (Normal make up to Condenser). 13) Open the isolation valves of CD-14 & CD-19 (Deaerator level control). 14) Open the CEP recirculation valve from DCS. 15) Open the isolation valves of vent line (CEP discharge & Canister vent) 16) Charge all the local pressure gauges/transmitters/switches 17) Local Push Bottom should be released 18) Hot well level gauges should be visible. 19) CEP breaker should be in service & remote. 20) All other permissive should be available at DCS. 21) All CEP protection & interlock should be through. 22) Start the CEP from DCS.

1) Proper precautions to be taken during CEP isolation / CEP strainer cleaning as Condenser is under vacuum. 2) Breaker Isolation from CCR 3) Press the EPB of pump & discharge valve 4) Close the Canister Vent 5) Close the Discharge Vent 6) Close the Discharge Valve 7) Close the Discharge Bypass Valve 8) Close the Suction relief valve 9) Close the Suction Valve 10) Close the Sealing water valves (2 nos) to Stuffing box. 11) Open the suction strainer vent & check vacuum. Ensure that there should not be air sucking 12) Close the Suction Strainer Vent 13) Clearance for Strainer Cleaning Normalization after Strainer Cleaning: 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) 6) Close the Suction Strainer Drain Close the Suction Strainer Vent Open the Sealing water valves (2 nos) to Stuffing box. Open the Canister Vent Open the Discharge Vent Open the Suction Strainer Vent slightly & ensure there should be air sucking to the vent & close it 7) Open the Suction Valve very slowly 8) Open the Suction relief valve 9) Open the Discharge Bypass Valve 10) Release the EPB of pump & discharge valve 11) Breaker Normalization 12) Clearance for Pump Start Cross Reference : RECORDS : Nil
