6. Safety Precautions :
Ensure no permit to work is pending on regarding this system by
Control Room.
7. Safety Ppe’s:
Ear Plugs, Safety Goggles, Hand Gloves, etc.
Start-Up Procedure
1. Before opening the tank outlet valve, ensure all the pump and
suction discharge are fully open.
2. Now open the tank outlet valve and also open the strainer inlet &
outlet valve.LDO passes through strainer by gravity do venting.
3. This system contains two triple screw pumps. The pumps are
connected in parallel, with one pump working, other in stand-by.
4. Open the suction valves and delivery valves for respective pumps.
Start admission of fuel into the lines.
5. Ensure the delivery valve (on common outlet) is fully open.
6. Now start the pumps and allow LDO to enter. Observe the working
for any abnormalities, for few minutes.
1. Always clean the strainers, when pressure drop exceed rated figures.
(Normally 3-4psi)
2. Ensure perfect alignment between pump & motor shaft, at coupling;
Misalignment will result in rapid damage to pump external bearing.
3. Observe the pressure gauge carefully for any pressure variations.
Sudden changes may symptom of malfunctioning.
4. Ensure that the standby isolation valve are open
5. Always ensure that the inlet pressure and temperature to system is
maintained.
6. Don’t run pumps with coupling guards removed.
7. Don’t run motor in wrong direction.
8. Don’t tamper with pump pressure relief valve setting
9. Don’t close pump delivery line suddenly when pump is running.
10. Don’t continuously start the pump against full system pressure
11. Don’t dummy pressure relief valves under any circumstance
12. Don’t operate system/pump with oil of different
characteristics.
13. Don’t operate system inlet/outlet temperature other than specified.
