The document discusses the sizing calculations for a pressure relief valve (PSV-0600B) protecting a well test separator. It considers relieving scenarios like fire and identifies the required flowrate.

A well test separator, 176-MBD-0600, is the equipment being protected by the pressure relief valve PSV-0600B.

Relieving contingencies considered for sizing include fire (wetted and unwetted surface area).

Notes. 1. The design pressure of Well Test Separator is 367 barg which is higher than SITP. Therefore no need to consider blocked discharge. 2. When the vessel is subjected to fire, the liquid in the vessel vaporizes or reaches a supercritical condition. 3. When the mixed phase density decrease below the starting mixed phase density at the initial condition, the required volume for the fluid, at the set pressure, is larger than the volume available in the drum and the PSV will need to open. 4. At liquid level high or normal, the fluid in the vessel is liquid. But at liquid level low, the fluid in the vessel is vapour. 5. At liquid level high or normal, the PSV is sized for Fire-thermal expansion. 6. At liquid level low, the PSV is sized for Fire-unwetted. 7. At the relieving pressure (324.1 barg + 21% = 392.2 barg), the oil stream of test separator is in critical condition. And the relieving condition (vapour fraction as 0.001) can't be simulated. 8. At liquid level high, the relieving flowrate is higher than flow at normal liquid level. 9. At relieving pressure (392.1 barg), the relieving temperature is 534 C. At the relieving pressure/temperature, the vessel can't be ruptured within 1000 hours. And the 324.1 barg is the same as well SITP. Therefore the set pressure of PSV is set as 324.1 barg. (ref-DSO-176-PRO-CAL-CNL-0000-00009) 10. PSV set pressure is the same as well SITP. Therefore it is not required to consider gas blowby through Choke valve. 11. PSV type : Pilot 4.
