Verbs exercise for kids


Verbs are action words. They tell us what the person or thing denoted by the subject does /has done / will do. Sometimes the verb may also show what happens / has happened / will happen to the subject. Examples are: work, play, sing, dance, stop, start, wait, leave, bring, take etc. Verbs are the most important words in a sentence. We cannot make sentences without verbs.

Affirmative and negative exercise

Using has and have


The auxiliary verbs has and have are used in the present tense to indicate ideas such as possession, relationships and physical characteristics.

She has blue eyes. They have a tea estate. She has a sweet personality.

Has and have are also used to form present perfect tenses.

They have finished the job. He has received the parcel.

Use have when the subject is a plural noun or the pronouns I, we, they or you. Use has when the subject is a singular noun or the pronouns he, she or it. Active and passive voice worksheets


A verb form can be in the active voice or in the passive voice. Active verb forms are different from passive forms; however, sometimes they are confused. These mistakes are not very surprising because of the following reasons. Be (is, am, are, was and were) can be used to make both passive forms and continuous forms in the active voice. Past participles are used to make both passive verb forms and perfect tenses in the active voice. Find out the verbs in the following sentences and state whether they are in the active voice or passive voice. 1. The boy killed the spider. 2. This house was built by my grandfather. 3.
