Infrared temperature sensor


Introduction
This infrared sensor is non-contact, and detects infrared radiation.
The sensor is available in two variants; one suitable for measuring the temperature of a
tyre and the other suitable for measuring the temperature of both steel and carbon fibre
brake disks.
Calibration information for the sensors for these different applications is given on page 2.
The sensors are supplied fitted with a 150mm loom, terminated with an Autosport connec-
tor ASL606-05-PN-HE.
Installation notes
When installing a Infrared temperature sensor:
the minimum sensing distance is 30mm;
the minimum sensing spot size is 6.5mm;
mount the sensor using the fins or the two 3.0mm non-threaded holes in the
base of the sensor;
make sure that the sensor does not interfere with the operation of the brake
mechanism or wheel mounts;
ensure that the sensor loom is not trapped when the suspension moves, or is
stressed at the extremes of steering and suspension movement;
select a position where the sensor will not be in constant contact with water,
fuel or oil;
try not to place the sensor near sources of electrical interference i.e. ignition
coils, plug leads, ECMs, alternators and telemetry antenna.
