Guidelines for Project

All the MBA students should follow guidelines given below when they prepare Project Reports: The cover page / title page should have the following format:

SUMMER TRAINING PROJECT REPORT (font-Times new roman 14) Submitted in partial fulfillment of (font Times new roman 12) MASTER of BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (font Times new roman 14) In the (font Times new roman 12) University School of Business (font Times new roman 14) [in case of CU students] CHANDIGARH UNIVERSITY, GHARUAN (font Times new roman 14) [ in case of PU students] PUNJABI UNIVERSITY (year)

Supervised by (font Times new roman 12) (name of teacher supervisor)

Submitted by (name of student) (Roll No./ UID No.) The length of the project should be about 60 to 70 pages, printed on one side, using font- Times new Roman 12, at 1.5 space. After the title page, one page each of certificate from the institution where project was completed, declaration by the student, certificate by the guide and acknowledgement should follow. Then it should be pages with table of contents and if needed there should be pages with list of tables and list of figures The Project should have at-least the following chapters: 1. Introduction (15 to 18 pages) 2. Review of Literature (7 to 8 pages; a minimum of 10 studies, preferably at national level) 3. Database and Methodology (2 to 3 pages) 4. Analysis and Interpretation (20 to 25 pages) 5. Conclusion (2 to 3 pages) Bibliography (1 to 2 pages) If there are well established theories related to the topic of the project, a chapter on Theoretical Issues may be added as the 4th chapter. Then the total number of chapters become 6.

Guideline for what may be included in each chapter is given below: Chapter 1 Introduction: This chapter should include relevant information about the firm/ institution where project was done. It should also explain the problem / topic / issue taken up by you in your project. For example, if you are dealing with topic related to marketing, then various issues related to marketing relevant to your topic must be explained. If topic is related to Accounting then relevant aspect of accounting should be explained. Brief outline of all the chapters in your report may also be given in this chapter of introduction. Objectives and Need for the study should be included in this chapter and they should be well defined and there should not be overlapping. In case, both are overlapping, at least Objectives of study should be given. Both should not be in the form of a paragraph but indicated as points. There is no need for a large number of Objectives and Need unless they are specific and dealt with in the study. Chapter 2 Review of Literature: This chapter should have summary of work done by others in the same area of study. Do not include reports of studies that are not relevant to your topic. Report of research work done earlier can be collected from Internet, magazines, journals and books. There should be one paragraph for each report. Bibliography should have details of the source of material. Chapter 3 Database and Methodology: Provide details of the data used in this report and the method used by you to collect the data. That is, if primary data is used then the method of collection, in case of secondary data sources of same should be given. Details of all the research tools used in this report should be given in this chapter. For example, if correlation, regression, chi-square test etc are used then details should be given. Chapter 4 Analysis and Interpretation: All the results of the study must be explained and analyzed in this chapter with proper tables and diagrams. Chapter 5 Conclusion: Conclude your study giving results that you reached at, limitations of your study and possible area for further research. Bibliography : Provide list of all the literature used, internet link used for the project in the standard format. Appendix: Copy of any questionnaire or document provided by the institution / company that was used in the study may included in this section.
