LAST MEETING Purdue placekicker Paul Griggs hit a 46-yard field goal as time expired to help the Boilermakers knock off Iowa, 27-24 inside Kinnick Stadium on Nov. 10, 2012. The victory was Purdues first win in Iowa City since 1992. The Hawkeyes tied the score 24-24 with 3:32 remaining in the game when PK Mike Meyer drilled a 24-yard field goal. After a stop by the Iowa defense, the Hawkeyes took over at their own 14-yard line with 1:08 left. Iowa put together an eight play, 52-yard drive to the Purdue 35-yard line, but was unable to convert on 4th-and-3, giving the Boilermakers the ball with 16 seconds left. Purdue QB Robert Marve scrambled for 17 yards on the first play and hit Antavian Edison for 20 yards on the next play, setting up the game winning 46-yard field goal. The Boilermakers struck first when Akeem Shavers scored on a 3-yard run in the first quarter. Iowa responded in the second quarter with a 1-yard scamper by Damon Bullock, but a 9-yard TD pass from Marve to Gabe Holmes gave Purdue a 14-7 lead at the half. Purdues Sam McCartney increased the lead to 17-7 with a 36-yard field goal to open the second half. Iowa cut the lead to 17-14 when QB James Vandenberg hit TE C.J. Fiedorowicz for a 5-yard touchdown. Iowa and Purdue traded scores to end the third quarter. Marve collected his third TD pass of the day, hitting Gary Bush on a 10-yard score with 1:38 left in the period for a 24-14 lead. After an Iowa punt and a Boilermaker penalty, Purdue took over on its own 10-yard line with 50 seconds left in the quarter. Marve fumbled the snap on the second play of the drive and CB Micah Hyde scooped up the loose ball, carrying it into the end zone for a 9-yard score. Vandenberg was 19-of-36 for 190 yards and one touchdown and also added eight rushes for 31 yards. Bullock had 23 carries for 43 yards. Seven different Hawkeyes had at least one catch, led by WR Kevonte Martin-Manleys 63 yards. Hyde and James Morris each had a game-high 11 tackles. Hyde added a pass breakup and a fumble recovery, while DE Dominic Alvis had one sack. BULLOCK CHASES 1,000 RB Damon Bullock is 97 yards from becoming the 44th player in program history to rush for 1,000 career yards. Iowa has had 43 players eclipse 1,000 career rushing yards in program history, tied for the ninth most by any FBS school. Bullock has 903 career rushing yards on 244 carries. He rushed for 20 yards as a true freshman in 2011, 513 yards as a sophomore in 2012, and 370 yards as a junior this season. Bullock is Iowas second leading rusher (387 yards), and fourth-leading receiver (17 receptions). He rushed for 513 yards in 2012, despite missing six games due to injury. He has two career 100-yard rushing games (N. Illinois, 2012; Northwestern, 2012). In the 2012 season opener, Bullock rushed for 150 yards in his first career start.

The Cy-Hawk Series is in its tenth season in 2013-14, being sponsored for the third time by Iowa Corn. Iowa currently leads the series, 5-2, after victories in womens soccer (3-0) and football (27-21). The Hawkeyes win in womens soccer was worth two points, while Iowa was rewarded with three points for its win in football. Iowa State registered a 3-1 win in volleyball last weekend in Iowa City to post its first two points in the series. Iowa leads the all-time series, 5-4, after capturing the Cy-Hawk Series a year ago by a 17-9 margin. Iowa also captured the inaugural Cy-Hawk Series in 2004-05 (13-8), and won again in 2006-07 (13-8), 2008-09 (21-4) and 2010-11 (15-11). Iowa State won the competition in 2005-06 (13-8), 2007-08 (18-9), 2009-10 (16-11), and 2011-12 (18-12). The 12-event series awards two points (except football, which is worth three) to the winning school in each head-to-head match-up between the two institutions. Additionally, one point is awarded to an institution if the graduation rate of its studentathletes is greater than the national average as reported each fall by the NCAA. A commemorative Cy-Hawk Series Cup, which stands 31 inches tall and weighs 19 pounds, is displayed on the winning teams campus for an entire year after a victory. Replica cups are also presented as traveling trophies for individual victorious teams in the headto-head competition. This seasons Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series schedule is listed below. Iowa has one win without a T.O.P. advantage (Northwestern, 29:47-30:13). Furthermore, Iowa maintained possession for 38-plus minutes in back-to-back games for the first time under Kirk Ferentz (38:18 vs. Missouri State; 38:03 at Iowa State). Iowa ran 80-plus plays in its first three games this season, marking the first time under coach Kirk Ferentz the Hawkeyes have taken 80-plus snaps in three consecutive games. The Hawkeyes took 80 snaps in the season opener, 85 in Week 2, and 83 in Week 3. LOWERY CHANGES POSSESSION, CHANGES THE SCORE DB B.J. Lowery returned two interceptions for touchdowns against Western Michigan in Week 4, which is a single-game school record, and ties for the second-most in a single game in NCAA history (Houstons Johnny Jackson returned three for TDs in 1987). He is the second Big Ten player in the BCS era (since 1998) with two interceptions returned for touchdowns in a single game. Lowery has three interceptions this season, and four for his career. He intercepted his first pass of the season in the fourth quarter against Iowa State, changing possession for the Hawkeyes after Iowa State had recovered an onside kick. His three interceptions tie for fifth in the Big Ten. He has 11 pass breakups and 14 passes defended, both marks that rank second in the Big Ten.
