Peer Teaching Project
Now it is your turn to teach a geometry lesson. You will be assigned a group to work with to create a lesson and present it to the class. Chapter 6 is all about quadrilaterals. Six groups will present on a type of quadrilateral, and two groups will present on how the quadrilaterals are related to each other. You will have 20 minutes to teach your lesson and allow students to work on problems related to the lesson. The schedule and requirements for each lesson are attached. At the end of the project, you will have two Learning Checks to assess your understanding of quadrilaterals: one on solving quadrilateral problems and one on classifying quadrilaterals. You will also earn a grade for your project, which is worth the same amount as a SLO (100 points). You will be given a chance to evaluate yourself and your group members. The rubric for your project is below. While you will be working in a group, you can divide the work among yourselves. You will be graded only on your contribution to the project, not on how the group does overall. However, a group that works well together will probably have a lesson that flows better than a group that struggles to get along. A couple of notes: In each section on quadrilaterals in the textbook, there is a part about coordinate geometry. You are not required to present on this aspect of your quadrilateral. The trapezoid group is not required to present on midsegments of trapezoids. I will make copies of any worksheets you want students to have during your lesson. Objectives: SLO 27: Students should be able to apply the properties of each type of quadrilateral (parallelogram, rectangle, rhombus, square, trapezoid, kite) to problems SLO 28: Students should be able to make connections and distinctions between each type of quadrilateral (Hierarchy of Quadrilaterals and ASN) SLO 29: Students will work with a group to create and present a geometry lesson to their peers. Absent Policy If you are absent during the preparation of your project, you are still responsible for getting your part of the project in by the deadline. You may email it to me feroe@scentral.k12.in.us or a group member. If you are absent during the presentation, please notify your group in advance and make sure they have the information you were going to present. Either they or I will present the missing information. In addition, you will present your part to me on the day you return.

Requirements for Hierarchy of Quadrilaterals Lesson The Hierarchy of Quadrilaterals is like a flow chart that shows which types of quadrilaterals are related to which. You will need to read about the six types of quadrilaterals in the chapter and then draw a flow chart showing how they are related to each other. See example below. Requirements for ASN Lesson ASN stands for Always, Sometimes, Never true. We have done a number of these activities throughout the year on different topics. For example, is it always, sometimes, or never true that three noncollinear points make up a plane? Your job is to create ASN questions for students to practice their knowledge of the relationship between the types of quadrilaterals. You will need to read about the six types of quadrilaterals in this chapter first. You might also want to talk to the Hierarchy of Quadrilaterals group about what they are doing because it is related to your topic. Grading Rubric You will be graded on your part of the lesson only, so it is important that you decide upon roles for each group member and evaluate each other honestly in the Group Evaluation.
The student not only contributed equally to the project and fulfilled his or her roles and responsibilities, but supported others in fulfilling their roles and responsibilities.
