    Verbs:

    The lesson that we will tackle today is all about verbs. Verbs - is from the latin verbum meaning word. - is a word that in syntax conveys an action(ex. bring, read, walk, run, learn), an occurrence(ex. happen, become), or a state of being(ex. be, exist, stand). The following are some example of verbs. *(buy, see, hold, write, talk ect.)

    Action Verbs - Some verbs describe specific action or tell what ation someone perfoms. For examples: 1. John talks at inappropriate times. - The verb talks is something John can do. 2. Our parents packed our suitcases. - The verb packed explains what the parents did to suitcases. 3.The ship chugged into the harbor. -The verb chugged explains what the ship did. *Notice that some ations, such as sailed, mingled, can be seen; others, suh as believe, recall, cannot be seen. The action verbs are classified as Transitive verbs or Intransitive verbs. -transitive verbs is a verb that requires one or more objects in a sentence or an action verb that directs action from the performer of the action toward the receiver of an action. The receiver is a noun or pronoun- may be a person, place or a thing. For examples: *My friend read the newspaper. Read- transitive verb, newspaper- direct object, friend- performer

    *The captain rang the bell. Rang- transitive verb, bell- direct objet, captain- performer. -the intransitive verbs is a verb that does not have a direct object or expresses action or tells something about the subject o the sentence. Intransitive verbs may be followed by an adverb (a word that addresses how, where, when, and how often) or end of a sentence. For examples: * To scape the midday sun, the cats lie in the shade under our cars. Lie- expresses action about the subject but does not direct action toward another noun or pronoun. *The bell rang for dinner. Rang- expresses action about the subject but does not direct action toward another noun or pronoun.

    Linking Verbs - do not express action. Instead, they connect the subject o the verb to additional information about the subject. Linking verb cannot be followed by an adverb or end a sentence but instead be followed by a noun or adjective, whether in a single word or phrase. For examples: *After drinking the old milk, Vladimir turned green. Turned- connects the subject, Vladimir, to something said about him, that he needed antacid. *Harry always feels sleepy after pigging out on pizza from Antonios. Feels- connects the subject, Harry, to his state being, sleepiness.
