2 REDUCE OBESITY IN A HEALTHY AND EFFICIENT WAY INTRODUCTION Nowadays, obesity has become a serious national health concern in New Zealand. There are huge numbers of people affected in different age group. Not only the adults have the obese problem, but also the children. People may think being a little overweight may not cause many noticeable problems. However, obesity has even become a leading cause of death in recent years. To avoid the dreadful effect, people try many methods to lose weight, but always fail. Most of them are unhealthy ways and it gets into a vicious circle. There is a solution suggests a weight-loss application, with a competition function. It is free to download and free to share with friends as well. When the users type their personal details and target weight, the application will give a fantastic diet plan with all the calorie of the food. People would work hard to reach the top during the exciting competition. This application assists in solving the problem and achieving their weight goals in a healthy and efficient way.

3 Buyer power: High Buyer power is high as there are lots of health and weight management applications. Customer has many alternative choices. Currently there are more than 97,000 mobile apps available related to health in the application store (Tode, 2013). Supplier power: Low Supplier power is low because there are many suppliers. The growth of Software industry is phenomenal and it holds a huge amount (Top software companies, 2013). Threat of new entrants: High Threat of new entrants is high as this industry is easy to enter. The cost is low and it is not hard to create an application (Stewart, n.d.). Threat of substitutes: High Threat of substitutes is high because there are lots of alternative ways for people to lose weight and be healthy(Gunnar, 2013). Rivalry among existing competitors: High Rivalry among existing competitors is high as there are many competitions among the health and weight managment software application company in the market (The world of health, 2010). Overall attractiveness of the industry: The overall attractiveness of this industry is high because this industry grows and develop very fast. It has high profit and new opportunities that attract many companies to enter. 3.3 Customers and Thei r Needs

4 The majority of customers would be the obese people and it also include the people in different age group who want to be healthier. People gradually realized that obesity will seriously affect their health and even their lives (French, Perry, Leon, & Fulkerson, 1994). As a result, they would look for an effective application to lose weight healthy. 3.4 The Product and Service The purpose of this application is help people to lose weight in a healthy and efficient way. The fantanstic competition part in this application greatly increases the efficient and also helps the customers meet lots of new friends. This would reduce some psychological problems, such as low self-esteem and feeling isolated in society. This application would make them feel more confidence as well as meet their weight goal. 3.5 Suppliers and Partners There are many suppliers and partners that can help us to complete this application successfully. Software design company would be a basic example of suppliers. We use their designed software to establish the application. Nutriotion company would also be a supplier to us, because we could collect all the nutriotion data from them as the applications reference information. The partners would be youtube and facebook. This application provide some aerobic dancing videos for the users through youtube. Moreover, the users could share their mood diary and successful experience on losing weight through facebook. 3.6 Strategy: Cost leadership This application would apply to the Cost leadership of Porters Generic strategies. The cost strategy is the operation cost in the industry. The cost strategy is low in this application, because it only need to spend little money during the operation. The competitive scope identifies the customer market that has been satisfied all their needs. This application is focused on the broad market. People in all age group, who want to lives healthier could use it, not only the obese people. The overall strategy is therefore Cost leadership.

5 3.7 Value Chain Activity: Make the product or service The most important value chain activity for this business is Make the product or service. Because there are so many applications about losing weight and keeping healthy. In order to become one of the successful applications, make the product or service is the most important step of the value chain activity rather than simply make a boring application. It is necessary to make an application that based on the target markets customers need, such as creating a compelling function to attract customer. This would meet the vision of this application, which is to help the obese people to lose weight in a healthy and efficient way with the synchronous competition function. It links to the strategy as well. Cost leadership focus on the broad market and low cost to operate in the market. 3.8 Business Processes 3.8.1. COMPETI TION CREATING PROCESS This process is about how to create an attractive competition function to assist people lose weight in a healthy way. The basic thing we need to know is the users information. So firstly, collect the users current weight after they use this application for a period of time and also their weight before they use it. Secondly, calculate the difference between these two figures that indicate the weight they have lost. Thirdly, put all the users into a rank list. The higher ranking they get, the more successful they are. The top user would become the winner and get a prize. Others would put greater efforts to reach the top in the future competitions.

The first step is to create a questionnaire online about different aspects and then send this to the new customers once they log in the application. The database needs to be constantly updated as the amount of customers increase after we receive the answers.

10 CONCLUSION Lots of people are distressed due to the unhealthy effect of obesity. In order to help the obese people to lose weight in a healthy and efficient way, there is a solution came up by providing an application with synchronous competition function.
