MINUTES
Written for the Project meeting in Daugavpils, Latvia, which took place from 7 to 13
April 2014with the participation of the partners involved in the Comenius project 2012-
2014
"The
Voices from the Land".

traditions, music. Later, all pai'ticipants
had special coffee breako eating typical Latvian
food prepared
by the parents
of the pupils in the Comenius project
and taking part in
ice breaking activities. In the evening all the teachers took part in an informal walking
tour
"Daugavpils main street".
oN THE 9rH oF APRrL 2014 all teachers and students went on excursion to Riga and
Skriveri, where they visited Candy factory, Organ concert at Dome Cathedral, and
Mentzendorff
House. All participants
went on a guided tour in Riga (the center of Riga,
Alberta street, Art Nouveau). After that they had the opportunity to taste traditional
Latvian food in Lido Centre and in Liepkalni.
oN TIIE l0rlr oF APRrL 2014 all teachers and pupils participated
in indoor and
outdoor activities. Teachers were welcomed by the Head of Education Board Mrs
Marina Isupova and Daugavpils methodologists. They learned about management issues
of the Latvian educational
system. After that the teachers joined
the pupils in the
Daugavpils
Clay Art Center. There were involved in Voices Art activities workshops,
exhibitions, excursions, and the presentation
of project
outcome

creating Voices art. In the afternoon we
visited Aglona Catholic Basilica and Bread Museum.
oN THE llrH oF APRrL 2014 the pupils and teachers had a meeting with Daugavpils
City Council Deputy Mayor (on educationaUyouth
issues). After that they hsd an
introduction
to voices poetry
and the pupils
and the teachers wrote poetry about their
artworks when they came back to the School. All the participating
pupils performed
poems describing the creation. After that the students visited Daugavpils Local History
and Art Museum, where they had an interactive lesson
,,Old
Games and Toys,,. The
teachers planned
next meeting. It was established that the following project
meeting
would be in Romania, from 26th of May to l't June. After lunch all the participants
watched the presentation
of our project activities from November 2013 toApril 2014.ln
the evening all the teachers, students and host families participated
in the Ceremony of
Receiving Certificates. The teachers and the students had open discussion about the
importance and efficiency of this project.
Satisfaction dictionaries
were filled in and
conclusions were drawn. Special dinner in

for the teachers after this ceremony.

ON THE 7rH OF APRIL 2014, the participants (Italian, Spanisho Turkish, Romanian
teams) arrived at Riga Airport. Polish team arrived at Daugavpils Bus station. Teams
were welcomed by the coordinator and teachers of Latvian School. After the teachers'
accommodation at the hotel, pupils met and went to their host families.
ON THE 8rH OF APRIL 2014 all the teachers and the pupils were welcomed at
Daugavpils Saskanas School by the Latvian teachers and students. There was the
ceremony of presenting flowers, flags, souvenirs. All the partners watched the Latvian
pupils singing different song and dancing different dances in order to welcome the
Comenius partners. Special welcome speeches and special meetings were prepared by
the School headmaster and by the Latvian coordinator. Then all the participants went
on a short tour around the School and observed some demonstrative lessons
(Mathematics, History, Biology, English, German lessons by using data camera and
projector) which was followed by workshops session
"We
want to share our experience"
(Latvian Art, Latvian Language, Candle Art, Latvian Music & Geography, Natural
Materials and Modern Technologies). After lunch all participants attended the musical
"Thumbelina"
performed by the students of Saskanas School, the show of the folk group
"Dzr-smeite"
(group leader L.Vaivode) in order to get acquainted with Latvian dances,
ON THE 12rH OF'APRIL 2014 all teachers visited the most important historical places
of Daugavpils: Church Hill, Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre, and the Daugavpils
Fortress. Students spent this day in their host families.
ON THE 13rH OF APRIL 2014 it took place the departure of the participants by bus
(Spanish, Turkish, Italian, Romanian team). Potish team left on the l2th of April.
Teachers, pupils and parents expressed the satisfaction for spending good time together,
to realize a real exchange of experience, of European standard. We can say that the
success of all these activities owes to a full collaboration between partner schools,
partners and the local community
