I drew the drum stick and cymbal using the rectangle and
ellipse tool and used variations throughout all three designs.
I created the bottom logo first by using a font called Great
Vibes. I created a hi-hat cymbal for the cross in the letter t
and then fit it all together. I drew the drum using a variety
of ellipses and rounded rectangles. I used a complementary
color scheme of indigo and gold to color the drum, sticks
and cymbal and used the Harrington font for the rest of
the lettering. For the middle logo I incorporated the drum
from the top by changing the size, color and angle of the
drum. I created yarn mallets for the letter i and Lucinda
Handwriting font for the letter s. I used the Quicksand font
and made a large R, then cut off part of the bottom and
extended it to create the letter t. Using the shape builder
tool, I placed a rectangle in the middle and cut it out for
space between the R and the t. I placed a flat ellipse
for a cymball at an angle to create the t. I then took it to
the percussion ensemble class and had them vote for their
favorite design. They liked the middle one best.

first took the image of the rose bush thorns and cropped it.
I found a mountain climber image and used the lasso tool to
move him into my Photoshop document. I then added a layer
mask onto him and blended out the background. I rotated the
climber so he would be the right angle to fit on the thorn. I
placed an image of a canyon into Photoshop. I recolored it so it
would contrast with the stem. I did this by adding a brightness/
contrast layer, a vibrance layer, a hue/saturation layer and a
color layer. I added a layer mask to the rose bush thorn layer
so I could blend the canyon into the background. I took the
gargoyle and added a layer mask and took out the background
using a hard brush. I used a soft brush at low opacity to blend it
into the mountain. I added a layer mask to the snake image and
a color layer then changed the rotation to fit it into the head of
the river at the bottom of the canyon. I used the same masking
technic as before, using a soft brush to gently fade it into the
background so it would appear to be biting at the mountain
climbers heel. I placed the quote in the document and puppet
warped the letter C in courage to add contrast.
