Enjoy a horse-drawn wagon ride through the snow-drenched paths at the North Lakeland Discovery Center
(located on Hwy. W, 1-1/4 miles north of Hwy. 51) -- apx. 15 min. loop -- plus cookies & hot cocoa in the warming cabin.
First come-first served. Donations appreciated.

Gosh, we love our Green Bay Packers! Today at Noon they take on the Seattle Seahawks! (Sunday, Jan. 3, is the Pack’s last
regular season game vs. Arizona Cardinals, 3:15 p.m.) Go cheer on the Pack at one of the area’s pubs or restaurants!

DOG SLED EXPRESS

Meet the fun-loving dogs of Two Moons Kennel for an afternoon on the snow.
Learn about the sport of dog sledding and test out the experience for yourself!
1-2:30 p.m. - Registration is limited to 10 people to guarantee a hands-on experience. Registered participants will have the
chance to learn the sport and the enjoy rides around the grounds. $15/NLDC member; $18/non-member.
2:30–4 p.m. - This session open to all; $3/person. Participants will enjoy demos; then names will be drawn to allow a few rides.

VAN VLIET HEMLOCKS OLD GROWTH SNOWSHOE HIKE
9:30 a.m. - Noon ~ Sponsored by the North Lakeland Discovery Center
Join naturalist Zach Wilson as he explores the Van Vliet Hemlocks, a rare old-growth remnant of hemlock-hardwood forest.
He’ll lead the group to a porcupine den & explore animal tracks & signs found along the way. Moderate Level. Bring appropriate
footwear for the winter conditions. Transportation provided. Snowshoe rental available for $5/pair or bring your own.

HOLLY DANCE
7:30-11 p.m. @ Manitowish Waters Community Center ~ 715-543-2300
The Northern Highlands Community Foundation presents its 2nd annual Holly Dance! Doors open at 7:30 p.m.; live music &
dancing begins at 8 p.m. Music sponsored by The Wine Barn of Manitowish Waters. Hors d’ouevres will be served, with wine,
beer & soda available for purchase. Admission is $10 per person. Babysitting is available at Camp Jorn YMCA
(ages 5-12, $4 per child) from 7:30 to 11 p.m. (call 715-543-8808 to make reservations by 12/27).

WINTER STORIES & CRAFT PROJECT

Enjoy a winter-themed story hour, followed by a fun craft project! Pre-registration not required.

GUIDED SNOWSHOE HIKE / DISCOVER WINTER KID’S ACTIVITY


Held at the North Lakeland Discovery Center ~ 715-543-2085 / www.discoverycenter.net
10 a.m. – Noon -- Develop your wildlife tracking skills. Learn to identify animal signs by looking at patterns, measuring tracks,
and counting toes. Enjoy this exploration of our winter wonderland! $5 per person. Snowshoe rental available for $5/pair.
2-3:30 p.m. -- Naturalist Licia Johnson will teach us about the clues critters leave behind, then lead a short discovery snowshoe
hike outside. Upon returning, enjoy a craft and snack. Dress appropriately. Snowshoes will be used, weather permitting
(included, or bring your own). Pre-registration suggested. $8/NLDC member; $10/non-member.
