The
Trivandrum
Observatory was founded in 1838
and had an internationally reputed
scientist, John Caldecott FRS as
its first Director. It is now the
oldest institution under the Kerala
University.
At present, the University has sixteen
faculties (subject groups) and
forty two departments of teaching
and research in addition to study
centres and other departments.
Teaching, research and knowledge
extension are the mandates of
the Departments. They primarily
focus on post-graduate (masters)
programmes, MPhil programmes (1year research degree) and doctoral
research. The University has a total
student population of about 65,000
in various institutions. Universitys
research activities are also going on
in selected affiliated colleges and
other recognized research centres
in and outside the state. In 2013, the
University awarded 200 PhDs. The

the following courses: MA in
Arabic Language and Literature,
MPhil. in Arabic, PhD. in Arabic.
We try to give you an insight into
Arabic Language, Literature and
the opportunities that we can
provide to study these subjects.
Our students are exceptionally
employable, and find employment within a variety of sectors and in
senior positions around the world.
Our courses are very flexible, with options to include aspects of
advanced techniques of Translation along with concentration on
Classical, Medieval and Modern Arabic Literature, so you may be
confident that the outside world will recognize your qualification as
an excellent career.I am immensely proud of our students and their
achievements as they were posted and being posted in the key posts
across the state and in foreign countries. A university education should
be supported by an enthusiastic community of professional teaching
and research staff. If you decide to study Arabic at University of Ker,

competent academic staff and academic support staff. Our teaching
and research facilities are excellent, and continue to benefit from large
investments in state-of-the art IT. The Language Lab of the Department
is well equipped with computers, Smart Class Room, software and
Television with more than 25 leading Arabic Channels.
The department works for the objectives like to contribute effectively in
the field of scientific research that concerns Arabic and literary studies
and work on creating the atmosphere that helps in achieving this, to
train specialized personnel in Arabic language to be able to work in
the different public and private institutions, to train Arabic language
teachers to teach in the public and private educational institutions
and finally to improve the linguistic skills of the students, polish their
various literary talents and encourage them to produce work of quality.
