SECTION 15524

WET-CHEMICAL FIRE-SUPPRESSION SYSTEM


PART 1 - GENERAL
SCHEDULE 0 - RELATED DOCUMENTS
PRODUCT DATA SHEET 0 - Drawings and general provisions of the
Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and
Division 01 Specification Sections, apply to this Section.
SCHEDULE 1 - SUMMARY
PRODUCT DATA SHEET 0 - Provide

new pre-engineered wet chemical fire


extinguishing system for protection of new cooking equipment
including exhaust duct.

SCHEDULE 2 - QUALITY ASSURANCE


PRODUCT DATA SHEET 0 - Submit a statement demonstrating successful
completion of similar services on at least five projects of similar size
and scope.

PRODUCT DATA SHEET 1 - Installation drawings: Provide installation drawings

prepared by a representative of the manufacturer to ensure


compliance with the requirements listed herein and with all
manufacturers requirements and recommendations. Include detail
drawings for the following items:
1.1 Storage containers and mounting brackets
1.2 Fusible links, cables and conduit, corner pulleys and link
mounting frames/brackets
1.3 Release mechanisms
1.4 Valves
1.5 Discharge nozzles
1.6 Piping components
1.7 Remote manual actuations

PART 2 - PRODUCTS
SCHEDULE 0 - STANDARD PRODUCTS. Provide system components which are

the standard products of a manufacturer regularly engaged in the


manufacturing of products that are of similar material, design and
workmanship and that have been in satisfactory commercial or industrial use
for two (2) years.
PRODUCT DATA SHEET 0 - Description:

Pre-engineered distribution piping


designed for automatic detection and release or manual release of
fire-suppression agent. Fire-suppression system shall be listed and
labeled for complying with NFPA 17A, "Wet Chemical Extinguishing
Systems," by a qualified testing agency acceptable to authorities
having jurisdiction.
0.1 Steel Pipe, DN 50 and Smaller: ASTM A 53, Type S, Grade A,
Schedule 40, plain ends.
0.2 Malleable-Iron Threaded Fittings: ASME B16.3, Class 150.
0.3 Liquid Extinguishing Agent: Noncorrosive, low-pH liquid.
0.4 Appliance Shutdown device: Each system shall be provided with
a listed
device to automatically shut off electric supply to electric range
upon activation of the alarm from the fire detection system via
an interconnection cable. The electric supply shall remain OFF
until manually reset. Once activated, it will
close the electrical current to the range and must be manually
reset. Manual reset is by either unplugging and plugging it from
the wall or by resetting the circuit breaker for the range.

PART 3 - EXECUTION
SCHEDULE 1 - EXAMINATION
PRODUCT DATA SHEET 0 - Examine conditions, with Installer present, for
compliance with requirements for installation tolerances and other
conditions affecting performance.
PRODUCT DATA SHEET 1 - Examine roughing-in for piping systems to verify
actual locations of piping connections before equipment installation.
PRODUCT DATA SHEET 2 - Proceed
with
installation
unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.

SCHEDULE 2 - INSTALLATION
PRODUCT DATA SHEET 0 - Installation shall be performed by the installation

technician in accordance with system manufacturers instructions.


SCHEDULE 3 - FIELD QUALITY CONTROL
PRODUCT DATA SHEET 0 - Manufacturer's Field Service: Engage a factoryauthorized service representative to inspect, test, and adjust
components, assemblies, and equipment installations, including
connections. Report results in writing.
PRODUCT DATA SHEET 1 - Tests and Inspections:
1.1 Test and adjust controls and safeties. Replace damaged and
malfunctioning controls and equipment.
1.2 Perform all test and checks recommended by the manufacturer.
