CEMTEC EPOQUA II
TWO COMPONENT WATER
BASED EPOXY
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
CEMTEC EPOQUA II is a two component, water
based epoxy coating available in either high gloss
or satin sheens. The epoxy resin is cured with an
acrylic curative to form a smooth, tough, tile like
coating which exhibits outstanding chemical stain
and abrasion resistant properties. CEMTEC
EPOQUA II offers the durability and stain
resistance which in the past has only been
available with two component solvent based epoxy
finishes.
CEMTEC EPOQUA II has excellent resistance to
high moisture and humidity. This unique water
reducible, low odour epoxy coating contains no
mercurial compounds and effectively resists
mildew and many strains of fungus growth.
CEMTECEPOQUA II is formulated to meet all
existing Federal and States air pollution control
methods.
BASIC USES
CEMTEC EPOQUA II was specifically developed
for wall or floor surfaces which are subjected to
repeated scrubbing and where long term stain
resistance is of prime importance. CEMTEC
EPOQUA II has excellent resistance to many
chemicals, oil and other substances. Refer to
paragraph entitled Stain Resistance for a list of
those materials which have been tested.
CEMTEC EPOQUA II can be applied to dry wall,
plaster, and to surfaces which have been
previously coated. The bond strength of CEMTEC
EPOQUA II to these substrates is excellent. This
abrasion resistant coating is recommended for use
in schools, hospitals, athletic facilities, commercial
kitchens, public restrooms and in wet areas such
as showers, locker rooms, dairies, food processing
plants, and other high humidity areas. It is also
an excellent industrial maintenance coating for use
on equipment, railings, machinery etc. CEMTEC
EPOQUA II is authorised by the USDA for use in
Federally Inspected meat and poultry processing
plants.
CEMTEC EPOQUA II Clear can also be reduced
100% with water for use over concrete floors as a
sealer or primer under numerous topcoats.

USDA Standards
CEMTEC EPOQUA II is authorised by USDA for
use in Federally Inspected meat and poultry
processing plants.
Bond Strength
CEMTEC EPOQUA II exhibits greater adhesive
strength than the cohesive strength of the following
substrates. Test was conducted using a Gardner
Adhesion Tester which measures the bond strength
in pounds per square inch and determines whether
the failure is in adhesive strength of the coating or
cohesive strength of the backing material.
Asbestos cement Board failed at 125 psi (.86 MPa).
Plywood failed at 250 psi ( 1.72 MPa). Drywall and
concrete failed at less than 50 psi (.34 MPa). With
all the materials tested, CEMTEC EPOQUA II
could not be separated from the substrates.
Flame Spread Rating
CEMTEC EPOQUA II has NFPA Class A and
UBC Class I ratings on non-combustible surfaces
with Flame Spread of less than 25 and fuel
Contribution / smoke Density values of zero.
Tested in accordance with ASTM E 84.
Water Absorption
14 day immersion in distilled water at 75 Deg.F.
(24 Deg.C.) - CEMTEC EPOQUA II test specimens
had less than 5% weight gain. No swelling or
softening of the film was observed. Tested in
accordance with ASTM D 570.
Mar Resistance
The dense, non-porous properties of CEMTEC
EPOQUA II produce a seamless Tile like surface
without the disadvantage of bacteria and oil
collecting mortar joints. It is highly scratch
resistance when compared to other types of
coatings.
