Modul Lines and Angle 1

This document provides information about measuring, drawing, and classifying different types of angles using a protractor. It discusses key angle concepts such as complementary, supplementary, vertical, adjacent, intersecting, and parallel lines. Examples are given to measure unknown angles, find missing angle measures, determine if lines are parallel or perpendicular, and solve for variables in angle problems by applying angle properties. Readers are guided through exercises to practice these skills.

DRAWING ANGLES USING A PROTRACTOR

E.g:
a. How to draw an angle ABC which measures 60 ?
Draw a straight horizontal straight line BC. Mark point B as the vertex

B
Place the centre of the protractor at vertex B and adjust the base line so that it is
aligned with the line BC
Find the angle 60 on the protractor scale and mark point A

Remove the protractor and draw a straight line from point B to point A
Label ABC

b. Draw a reflex angle ABC 320

Solution:

EXERCISE
Use a protractors to draw each of all angles below :
1. ABC 24

2. FGH 72

THE SUM OF ANGLE

a. The sum of angles on a straight line is 180

p q r 180

b. The sum of angles at a point line is 360

p q r 360

E.g :
1. Calculate RQS in the following diagram.
Solution:
The sum of the given angles
= 70 80
= 150
Subtract this sum from 180
RQS 180 150

Two parallel lines are parallel

if
They never meet or
intersect
The perpendicular
distance between two
lines is the same at all
points on either line
PQ is parallel to RS ( PQ // RS)
AB is parallel to CD ( AB // CD )
** // --- symbol for parallel

PERPENDICULAR LINES

Two straight lines are
