Proverbs 17:5-14New International Version (NIV)

Whoever mocks the poor shows contempt for their Maker;

whoever gloats over disaster will not go unpunished.

Childrens children are a crown to the aged,

and parents are the pride of their children.

Eloquent lips are unsuited to a godless fool

how much worse lying lips to a ruler!

A bribe is seen as a charm by the one who gives it;

they think success will come at every turn.

Whoever would foster love covers over an offense,

but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends.

10

A rebuke impresses a discerning person

more than a hundred lashes a fool.

11

Evildoers foster rebellion against God;

the messenger of death will be sent against them.

12

Better to meet a bear robbed of her cubs

than a fool bent on folly.

13

Evil will never leave the house

of one who pays back evil for good.

14

Starting a quarrel is like breaching a dam;

so drop the matter before a dispute breaks out.

Psalm 34:11-18
When he pretended to be insane before Abimelek, who drove him away,
and he left.
11

Come, my children, listen to me;

I will teach you the fear of the LORD.

12

Whoever of you loves life

and desires to see many good days,

13

keep your tongue from evil

and your lips from telling lies.

14

Turn from evil and do good;

seek peace and pursue it.
15
The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous,
and his ears are attentive to their cry;
16

but the face of the LORD is against those who do evil,

to blot out their name from the earth.
17
The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them;
he delivers them from all their troubles.
18

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted

and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

Matthew 1:1-4New International Version (NIV)

The Genealogy of Jesus the Messiah
1 This is the genealogy[a] of Jesus the Messiah[b] the son of David, the
son of Abraham:
2
Abraham was the father of Isaac,
Isaac the father of Jacob,
Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers,
3
Judah the father of Perez and Zerah, whose mother was Tamar,
Perez the father of Hezron,
Hezron the father of Ram,
4
Ram the father of Amminadab,
Amminadab the father of Nahshon,
Nahshon the father of Salmon,

Matthew 10:32-33 New International Version (NIV)

32

Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge

before my Father in heaven. 33 But whoever disowns me before others, I
will disown before my Father in heaven.

Mark 7:14-15New International Version (NIV)

14
Again Jesus called the crowd to him and said, Listen to me, everyone,
and understand this. 15 Nothing outside a person can defile them by
going into them. Rather, it is what comes out of a person that defiles
them.
Luke 1:37New International Version (NIV)
37
For no word from God will ever fail.
John 8:12New International Version (NIV)
Dispute Over Jesus Testimony
12
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, I am the light of the
world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the
light of life.
John 15:5New International Version (NIV)
3

I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you,
you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
1 Corinthians 6:9-11New International Version (NIV)
9
Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of
God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor
adulterers nor men who have sex with men[a] 10 nor thieves nor the
greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the
kingdom of God. 11 And that is what some of you were. But you were
washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord
Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
1 Thessalonians 3:12-13New International Version (NIV)
12
May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and
for everyone else, just as ours does for you. 13 May he strengthen your
hearts so that you will be blameless and holy in the presence of our God
and Father when our Lord Jesus comes with all his holy ones.
Acts 1:11New International Version (NIV)
11
Men of Galilee, they said, why do you stand here looking into the
sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will
come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.

Romans 4:9-11New International Version (NIV)

9
Is this blessedness only for the circumcised, or also for the
uncircumcised? We have been saying that Abrahams faith was credited
to him as righteousness. 10 Under what circumstances was it credited?
Was it after he was circumcised, or before? It was not after, but before!
11
And he received circumcision as a sign, a seal of the righteousness
that he had by faith while he was still uncircumcised. So then, he is the
father of all who believe but have not been circumcised, in order that
righteousness might be credited to them.
Romans 8:1-2New International Version (NIV)
Life Through the Spirit
8 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ
4

Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life
has set you[a] free from the law of sin and death.
James 1:19New International Version (NIV)
Listening and Doing
19
My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be
quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry,

James 4:7-10New International Version (NIV)

7

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from
you. 8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your
hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Grieve,
mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to
gloom. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

Hebrews 12:1-3New International Version (NIV)

12 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of
witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so
easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out
for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For
the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat
down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured
such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose
heart.

Colossians 3:2-3New International Version (NIV)

2

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3 For you died,
and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.
