The document outlines procedures and requirements for low visibility takeoff and approach operations, including crew qualifications, aircraft limitations, approach minima and ban distances.

The Captain is the pilot flying and takes decisions to land or go around. The Co-pilot monitors the approach and makes callouts. Duties change depending on if the aircraft is above or below 500 feet.

Callouts are required at altitudes like 1000 feet, 500 feet and DH. Callouts also include 'Minimums' to land or 'Go Around' if visual references are not established. Additional callouts occur during the flare.

by Commanders with LVTO qualifications.
Lighting and marking
RVR
Runway edge lighting and/or centerline marking
350 M (1)
Runway edge and centerline lighting
250 M

Notes:
1. For night operations, at least runway edge and runway end lights are required.
2. The reported RVR/visibility representative of the initial part of the take- off run

DOWNGRADING, APPROACH BAN....................................... ..........REVIEWED

Policy regarding an approach ban may differ from country to country. Usually the final
approach segment may not be continued beyond the OM or equivalent DME distance if
the reported RVR is below the published minima for the required transmissometers. After
OM or equivalent, if RVR becomes lower than the minima, the approach may be
continued. Where no OM or equivalent position exists, the approach ban shall be 1000
ft.
