    Resource Kits
    The International Disability and Human Rights Network
    has made some kits to help people working for the rights
    of disabled people. They are to help people be more
    organised and to campaign better.

    This is what the kits are about:

    movers, shakers and policy-makers.
    Campaigns: Strategies and tactics for effective
    campaigning.

    Spirituality and Emotional Well-being


    No Box to Tick This is a resource booklet for people
    supporting adults with learning disabilities. It gives the
    views of people with learning disabilities about
    spirituality and what it means to them. The booklet
    includes 'practical things to do' and you can see it here:

    Personal Health Budgets


    NHS England is holding some events to help local areas
    implement personal health budgets and integrated
    personal budgets.
    They are aimed at people who will have an active role
    in developing local Transforming Care implementation
    plans from childrens and adult services, including:

    Heads of service

    Commissioners and heads of service working in


    the NHS and local authorities

    NHS and social care professionals including


    transition leads

    Voluntary sector organisations

    Mencap Young Ambassadors in Leeds


    Leeds Mencap are looking for people aged 16-25 with a
    learning disability who would like to help support their
    work.

    The Young Ambassadors programme is a way for young


    people with a learning disability to build their skills, grow
    in confidence and become a role model for other people
    with a learning disability.

    BILD Guides
    BILD have launched two new guides.
    The first one is a book about end of life care for people
    on the Autism spectrum by Jill Ferguson and Val Laurie
    from Scottish Autism.

    Baily Thomas Doctoral Fellowship personal


    awards
    The Baily Thomas Charitable Fund has announced that
    it is starting the Baily Thomas Doctoral Fellowship
    personal awards.
    Awards will be made for successful applicants to
    complete PhD studies on a topic relevant to people with
    learning disabilities.

    The closing date for applications for this first round is 1st
    March 2016 and interviews for shortlisted applicants will
    be held in June 2016.

    Jobs with the Autism Programme Board


    The Autism Programme Board watches how the Think
    Autism plan for adults with autism is working.
    They are seeking to get more people on the autism
    programme board who have a learning disability or
    autism, or who are family members of someone who
    has.
    They are looking for 2 new members, including a cochair, who can speak for the interests and experiences
    of people with autism and their families.
    You will need to be available for up to 15 days per year
    to do this.

    Active Beyond Education


    This is some new research about young disabled
    peoples experiences of sport and physical activity as
    they become adults.

    The main findings show a need to engage disabled


    people in sport at a young age to stop them being
    inactive later in life.

    This work will be used to shape future provision of sport


    and physical activity for young disabled people and
    support more people to be active.
