Cs6551 Computer Networks and Lab

This document outlines the objectives, units, topics, textbooks, and laboratory components of the course CS6551 Computer Networks. The main objectives are to understand network layering and protocols, components required to build different network types, and functionality at each layer. The 5 units cover fundamentals and link layer, media access and internetworking, routing, transport layer, and application layer. The laboratory aims to have students communicate between computers, implement protocols, program with sockets, implement and compare routing algorithms, and use simulation tools.
