And the Angel said to Her: Fear not, Mary, for Thou hast found Favour
with God. And behold! Thou shalt Conceive in Thy Womb, and bring
forth a Son, and shall call His Name Jesus.
He shall be Great, and shall be called the Son of the Most High and the
Lord God shall grant to Him the Throne of His Father, David. And He
shall Reign over the House of Jacob forever, and of His Kingdom, there
shall be no end!
Then said Mary to the Angel: How shall this be, as I know not any man?
And the Angel answered and said to Her: The Holy Spirit shall come upon
Thee, and the Power of the Most High shall Overshadow Thee.
Therefore, also, that Holy One Who shall be Born of Thee shall be called
The Son of God.
And behold! Thy kinsman, Elizabeth, hast also conceived a son in her
old age; and this is the Sixth Month with her who was called barren!
for with God nothing is impossible!
And Mary said: Behold the Handmaiden of the Lord! Be it unto me
according to Thy Word!
And the Angel departed from Her.

This is the Lords doing, and

it is Marvellous in our eyes.*

At that time, Zachariahs Wife, Elizabeth, conceived, and hid herself for five
months, saying: Thus hast the Lord dealt with me in the days wherein
He looked upon me, to take away my reproach among mankind!
And in the Sixth Month, the Angel, Gabriel, was sent from God, to a city of
Galilee, named Nazareth, to a Virgin espoused to a man whose name
was Joseph, of the House of David, and the Virgins name was Mary.
And the Angel went in to Her, and said: Hail, Thou who art Full of Grace!
The Lord is with Thee! Blessed art Thou among women!
And when She saw him, She was troubled at his sayings, and cast in Her
mind what manner of Salutation this should be.

One, for which reason He is not ashamed to call them Brethren, saying:
I will declare Thy Name to My Brethren; in the midst of the church
will I praise thee.
And again: I will put My Trust in Him.
And again: Behold, I, and My Children, whom God has granted Me...
Therefore because the Children are Partakers of Flesh and Blood, He
Himself likewise shared in the same, so that through Death, He might
destroy him who had the power of Death that is to say: the devil and
release those who, through the Fear of Death, were all their lifetime
subject to bondage, for indeed, He does not give Aid to the Angels, but
He does give Aid to the Seed of Abraham.
Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His Brethren, so that He
might become a Merciful and Faithful High Pries in Things pertaining to
God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people, for in that He Himself
has Suffered being tempted He is able to Aid those who are tempted.
