Course Description:
This course describes the fundamentals of embedded system and its design process. It has a
detail description of Intel 8051 microcontroller, ARM & SHARC microprocessor architectures,
their instruction set and Real time Applications. Emphasizes the basic concepts of assembly
language programming. (This course can be a prerequisite of ME program) .Applications of
embedded system are widely found in security, Telecommunication, automobile, Entertainment,
aerospace, Medical, Banking finance, etc
Course Outcome:
On Successful completion of the course the student will be able to:
1. Describe an embedded system and its design process, can also explain the architectures of
Intel 8051micro controller, ARM & SHARC micro processor and their instruction set.
2. Write basic assembly language programs for Intel 8051 microntroller.
3. Explain the various applications of ES using the concepts of Interfacing. (With interfacing
units LEDs, LCDs, DACs, ADCs, Keyboard).
4. Illustrate the concepts of RTOS and the design process using RTOS.
