Aliens Space Station is an integrated township that covers about 20

acres of land, out of which 16 acres is lush greenery with breathtaking

A dual distribution system has been adopted and sand-filtered water

from the Ochiai Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant is chlorinated
and used as toilet-flushing water in 25 highrise business premises and
for stream augmentation, as illustrated in the figure. The system,
which has been successfully operated since 1984, is supplying treated
wastewater up to a maximum 8,000 m3/day.

Key Features
The water treatment systems are capable of producing drinking water

from almost any raw water source within about an hour. Each system
comprises complete, automated and integrated micro-filtration
systems, and in some cases, reverse osmosis systems as well. Using
state-of-the-art hollow fiber membrane technology, the systems
transform contaminated water into water that is free from harmful
bacteria, cysts, and particles.

Key Features
vertical gas collection wells were installed within the landfill waste site
by City of Toronto. The Site is encircled by roughly 10,000 linear
meters of dual header piping for transmission of gas from the wells
and trenches to the central blower/flaring station.
Centrifugal blowers located at the central blower/flare station apply

vacuum to the collection piping to extract LFG from the trenches and
wells located in the landfill.
The collected gas is then directed to the power plant for generation of
electricity.

implement SUDS techniques to reduce the flooding risk as well as
making the city green by capturing the pollutants flowing in the storm
water runoff.

outdoor air temperatures were claimed. The ratio of soft to hard
landscaping was proposed at 60:40, with vegetation integrated with the

Dense, energy-efficient, pedestrian-friendly neighbourhoods of canals
and cool urban squares, based on traditional Arabic forms and
ecological principles. Masdar tied traditional Arabic urban form with a
futurist, zero-carbon, zero-waste, city powered by renewable energy
and supported by sustainable transportation. Masdar is designed as a
walkable city in the middle of the desert.
