Reaction Force: By: Mohd Naim Yusof

The reaction force is defined as the opposing force that results when an action force is applied to an object, in accordance with Newton's Third Law of Motion. While Newton's Third Law seems simple, its practical application is more complex, as all of Newton's Laws work together to describe physical interactions. For example, when pushing a cup across a table, Newton's Third and Second Laws explain the equal and opposite contact forces and how a net force allows movement, while Newton's First Law describes how the cup slows down once pushing ceases due to resistance.

Reaction Force

By: Mohd Naim Yusof

The reaction force can be defined as the force that reacts when an action
force is applied to an object. The concept of the action-reaction force is
come from newtons third law which stated that when a force is applied,
there is a reaction force acting in opposite direction with equal magnitude.
The law seems simple to understand however when we think of it in the
practical sense it become more complex. This is because all newtons law
may be applied in the single action and we cant fully understand the
action in only one newtons law point of view. For example is when you are
pushing a cup on the table; if we just look at the action in the newtons
third law point of view, we will keep asking ourselves how come the cup
is moving if there is equal and opposite reaction force acting at the same
time?. Actually all newtons laws are being applied in this single action.
Newtons third law is only applied at the interface between your hand and
the surface of the cup. That is why if you look closely, your hand actually
dents because it experiences reaction force from the cup. In other hand, if
we look overall situation, the force that allowed the cup to move is nonzero net force between the applied force and the resistance produce by
the surface of the table. This situation then will agree with the newtons
second law. The cup will gradually stop moving if you stop applying force
onto it because of the resistance which will comply with newtons first law.
