Each class is important EVERY DAY. Arriving on time is crucial to the success of a student. School
begins at 7:45 and we begin working at 7:45. Absences should be avoided. We are aware
some absences are unavoidable. Please make every effort to schedule appointments after school
or possibly rotate appointments so that the student does not miss the same classes over and over.
However, being absent is NOT to be used as an excuse for incomplete assignments. According to
the Baldwin County Student Handbook, page 16 , the policy for make-up work is as follows: Policy
for Make-Up Work: Upon return to school from excused absence(s), students have up to three days
to complete and turn-in make-up work to teachers.
Students who check out MUST see each teacher to receive their assignments BEFORE leaving
school.
In addition to academic success, we want to help your child develop excellent work habits and
social skills. We expect our students to be responsible, respectful, and demonstrate the qualities of
a successful learner. A Conduct Clipboard travels with each class all day. Students who have
difficulty following rules or procedures receive a mark indicating a need for improvement in this
area. Every effort is made to write this in their agenda, however, there are times that the problem
is addressed and handled here at school and no parent communication is deemed necessary.
Grading:
Grades are based on assignments, classwork, projects, and organization of folders/notebooks,
participation, quizzes, tests, and daily preparation. Signs are posted throughout the hall listing the
materials students are required to have with them in class daily for each subject. Assigned work
is due at the beginning of class and students are expected to have the work in class with them.
Students are encouraged to listen, take notes, and ask questions if something is not understood.
Please encourage your child to ask for help when the material is covered in class.
Student Responsibilities: HAVE MY MATERIALS
BE WHERE I BELONG
FOLLOW DIRECTIONS
DO MY ASSIGNMENTS
BE KIND TO OTHERS
Expectations:
Students are expected to wear the correct uniform to school each day and to follow the Baldwin
County Board of Education Dress Code on Out-of-Uniform Days as per the Baldwin County Student
Handbook, pages 3-4.
The following infractions will result in automatic Detention from Break: No signature
(agenda/classwork), Incomplete assignment, No Accelerated Reader book, Failure to log into AR
Folders, Improper care of computer, No earbuds, or Disrespect.
Violating two or more of these infractions will result in Break Detention: Not prepared for class, Not
following directions, Not following correct Hall/Lunchroom procedures, Behavior problems, Talking,
Improper use of Computer, and Chewing Gum/Eating/Drinking during class.
Students who have proven to be responsible and respectful will be invited to attend field trips.
Students who continually violate rules and procedures will not be allowed on field trips.
These students will be expected to attend school on the day of the field trip and will complete
assignments in another classroom.
Students may not call home to have someone bring items to school. This is an important part of
learning and taking responsibility for personal self.
Computer use is a privilege. Students who violate computer procedures will receive a
consequence. Continued misuse will result in loss of computer privileges, requiring assignments be
completed using paper/pencil.
Students are required to have their INOW user information. Each student will need to have access
to his or her most current grades.
We are looking forward to a rewarding year with your child.
