GENERAL OVERVIEW
It is a desktop application. This application can be used by college office to carry out
routine work smoothly. For example office of any College can use this application to
keep their records in the database of computer rather than on paper which is not reliable
the use of computer makes their work simple and faster.
As it is a desktop application it provide wide range of it operability Moreover most of
the paperwork that should be carried out for the various activities. Thus reduce the work
load of maintaining the documentation work which ultimately reduce the space that
would have required keeping these documents. Also the time spends for retrieving
information from the document can be minimized. The searching capacities and
information about any document will be fast.

OBJECTIVES OF PROJECT

It can be use for local cable operators.

It is user friendly environment.
Reduces paper work to maintain track of customer.

EXISTING SYSTEM

It has been seen that the Cable faces so many problem to manage the data of
Cable, day to day record of work to make future planning of budget etc. It takes lot
of time.
In existing system there are no facilities to keep the backup of records as it will
increase the work of the workers as the records are maintained on the paper which is
not reliable as we consider problems like natural disaster the paper work may by lost
or will be damaged.

1.4

LIMITATIONS

User must have basic knowledge of computer.

Need time to learn software

PROPOSED SYSTEM
We hereby are grateful to present our software project through this report.
Our proposed system is computer based. Which provide various user interfaces
forms for various operations and hence interactive. The system is able to generate
calculations, bills, and reports automatically.
Operations such as adding, removing, searching student, driver and staff can be
done efficiently and effectively by proposed system.
Adding Bus category and unit wise is possible with the help of this system.

System can efficiently perform various transactions such as sales, purchase and
maintain data after each transaction.
In short proposed system is user-friendly.

MOTIVATION:
At the time the owner skips a paper book to the keep user details. we found that
manual processing of data is always time consuming and may cause more errors.
Further reference to the user details is time consuming accuracy of such data makes
the system unreliable and insufficient. Obviously there is need of efficient system so
we decided to make software collage bus pass management system for its smooth
functioning.

1.7 PROBLEM DEFINATION:

The purpose of the project is to automate management system. The software
must include provision to keep detail of student staff driver details. It should
help the owner to retrieve related detail when needed. It should help owner in

It is developed using JAVA

SQL is used as backend software for developing database.

2.1 ANALYSIS OF PROJECT

Following features are included in our project:

The project is developed as a desktop application.

The regional Font (Times New Roman).

2.2 PROJECT DEVELOPMENT CYCLE

When you build product or system, it is important to go through a series
predictable steps a road map that helps you create a timely, high quality result. The road
map you follow called a Software Process. Software Engineers & their needs & then
follow it. In addition the people who have requested this software play role in Software
Process

It is important because it provide stability, control & organization to an

activity that can, if left controlled, become quite chaotic

2.3 LINEAR SEQUENTIAL MODE:

Sometime it is called waterfall model. It is oldest paradigm for software
development. Waterfall model suggest Systematic sequential approach to software
development which begins with requirements needs & progress through planning
construction, modeling & deployment culminating in ongoing support of the complete
software.

2.4 SYSTEM INFORMATION ENGINEER:

Because software is always part of larger system, begins by establishing
requirements for all system elements & then allocating some subsets of these
requirements software. This system view essential when software must interact with
engineering & analysis encompasses requirement gathering at system level with small
amount of top level design & analysis.

2.5 SYSTEM REQUIREMENT ANALYSIS:

The requirements gathering process is intensified & focused
specially on software. To understand the nature of the programs to
built, the software engineer must understand the information domain
for the software as well as required function, behavior performance &
interface.

2.6 DESIGN:
Software design is actually a multi step process that focuses on four distinct
attributes of the program, data structure, software architecture interface
representation & algorithm detail. The design process translates requirements
into representation of software that can be accessed for quality before coding
begins.

2.7 CODE GENERATION:

The design must be translated into machine readable form. The
code generation step performs this task. If design performed in a
detailedmanner, code generation can be accomplished automatically.

2.8 TESTING:
Software will undoubtedly undergo change after it is delivered to
the customer. Chance will occur because have been encountered, because the
software must be adapted to accommodate changes in its externally
environment.

2.9PROPOSED SYSTEM INFORMATION

Easy to use.

Phonetic fonts.

Give access to authenticated person.

Application should be able to store large database of the whole college.

Produce required reports.

Implementation

ADVANTAGES OF WATERFALL MODEL:

Waterfall model is linear model and of course, linear models are the most simple
to implement.

The amount of resources required to implement this model is minimal.

One great advantages of the waterfall model is that documentation is produced at

every stage of the waterfall model development.

After every major stage of software coding, testing is done to check the correct
running code.

In waterfall model progress of system is measurable.

JAVA (Front End)

Java is a general purpose; Object oriented programming language
Developed by Sun Microsystems of USA in 1991.
Java was designed for development of software for consumer electronic
Device such as TVs, VCRs, Toasters and such other electronic machine.
The most striking feature of the language is that it is a platform neutral
Language. Java is first programming language that is not tied to any Particular
hardware or operating system.
Programs developed in java can be executed anywhere on any system.
Fundamental shift in how we developed and use programs. Nothing like this has
happened to the software industries before
The inventors of java wanted to design a language which could offer
solution .To some of the problem encountered in modern programming. They
wanted to be not only reliable, portable, and distributed but also simple, Compact
and interactive.
The main advantages of java areits support of Applet .Applet are the small
java programs that are specifically used in internet computing. They can transport
over the internet from one computer to another.
Java provides AWT and SWING packages for designing the front end
applications.

CONTROLS USED:
Controls are graphical objects. Each control has there own attributes i.e.
Properties and methods. We can use these controls to use user inputs, display
outputs, to import other applications and trigger event producers .These controls
are described below

Label:
Labels are passive control that does not support any interaction with the
users they are only used to display the text and icons.
2. Buttons:
The most widely used control is Button. Button contain label that
generate an event when it pressed.
3. Textbox:
The Textbox is used for single line text entry area. It is also known as
edit control. Text boxes can be multiline, have scrollbars, be read-only and
have many other attributes.
4. Radio Buttons:
The Radio buttons are known as option buttons as you can select only
one button of option at a time in a given group of options.

5. Table:
Table is a component that displays rows and columns of data .You
Can drag the cursor on column boundaries to resize columns. You can also drag a
column to a new position. Depending on its configuration, it is also possible to select a

row, column, or cell within the table, and to change the data within a cell.
6. Combo Box:
Combo Box is a combination of Text Field and Drop down list .Combo
Box views only one entry at a time in a given set of elements. It displays drop down list
that facilitates user to select desired entry or element.

4.3 FEATURES OF JAVA:

1. Java is platform independent & portable so that it can be used in

any operating system & any hardware
2. Java is robust language. It provides many safeguards to ensure
reliable code.
3. Java is more secure language.
4. It is designed as distributed language for creating applications on
network.
5. It is familiar to existing programmer like C & C++ programmers.
6. The object model of java is simple & easy to extends.
7. The java comes with tools that supports multiprocess
synchronization & construct smoothly interactive systems.

4.4 ABOUT SQL

SQL Server is a relational database management system (RDBMS)
from Microsoft that's designed for the enterprise environment. SQL Server

runs on T-SQL (Transact -SQL), a set of programming extensions from

Sybase and Microsoft that add several features to standard SQL, including
transaction control, exception and error handling, row processing, and
declared variables.
The original SQL Server code was developed by Sybase; in the late
1980s, Microsoft, Sybase and Ashton-Tate collaborated to produce the first
version of the product, SQL Server 4.2 for OS/2. Subsequently, both Sybase
and Microsoft offered SQL Server products. Sybase has since renamed their
product Adaptive Server Enterprise.
SQL is a standard language for accessing and manipulating databases.

What is SQL?
SQL stands for Structured Query Language
SQL lets you access and manipulate databases
SQL is an ANSI (American National Standards Institute) standard

What Can SQL do?

SQL can execute queries against a database
SQL can retrieve data from a database

SQL can insert records in a database

SQL can update records in a database
SQL can delete records from a database
SQL can create new databases
SQL can create new tables in a database
SQL can create stored procedures in a database
SQL can create views in a database
SQL can set permissions on tables, procedures, and views

4.5 FEATURES OF SQL

1. Security and Data Auditing
Transparent Data Encryption - This is encrypting the data while it is
on disk and remains transparent to applications
External Key Management - This new functionality relates to
consolidation of key management and integration with external products
Data Auditing - This is one core feature of SQL Server 2008 that

will include a number of new features to include:

The introduction of first class 'AUDIT' objects
Auditing DDL (data definition language) commands
Support for multiple logging targets

2. Availability and Reliability

CPUs - Support for pluggable CPUs which means that a CPU can be
added on the fly and recognized by SQL Server 2008 just like memory in
SQL Server 2005
Database Mirroring - Enhanced Database Mirroring to include
compression of mirror streams, enhanced performance and automatic pagelevel repair for the principal and mirror

3. Performance
Data Compression - This new feature provides the ability to easily
enable or disable data compression as an online command as well as offer
more efficient data storage above and beyond traditional data compression
Performance Data Collection - When you are experiencing a
performance issue the biggest problem is pinpointing the problem, so with
SQL Server 2008 Microsoft is introducing a single common framework for
performance related data collection, reporting, and warehousing
4. Management
Policy-Based Management Framework - The ability to manage
objects via policies as opposed to traditional scripts with inherent monitoring
and enforcement
Microsoft System Center - Integration with Microsoft System Center
which a product from Microsoft to improve operational costs

Extended Events - Another new feature is Extended Events which is a

high performance yet light weight tracing infrastructure with insight into the
core engine independent of SQL Trace
5. New Data Types
Date Time Data Type - The date time data type will now be able to
support the following:
Precision to the 100th nanosecond which is 7 digits past secondTimezone date time offset to translate the date times across numerous time zones
Rather than having to parse the data time for just the date or just the
time, now SQL Server 2008 will have date only support as well as time.

Data Flow Diagrams:
DFD is structured, diagrammatic technique for showing the functions
performed by a system and the data flowing into, out of, and within it. It was
first developed by Larry Constantine as a way of expressing system
requirements in a graphical form which led to modular design. It consists of
data flows processes, sources, destinations, stores all described through the
use of easily understood symbols. These symbols are:
