1. What are the key messages expressed in the advertisement or job announcement?
Ans:- The technical officer is responsible for keeping the naval ships and aircraft fighting fit at
all times. They handle state of the art weapons (Gunnery, Missiles and Anti-Submarine) and
propulsion systems (Gas Turbines, Steam and Diesel Engines). Selected trainees have to be
physically fit and expected to have good technical knowledge. The trainee should not be
married. Opportunities for handling projects involving high end technologies are also provided.
2. Are aspects of the consumer brand mentioned or conveyed? If so, how?
Ans:- The Indian Navy is one of the most prestigious defence force in the world and joining the
navy has certain benefits as conveyed by in the advertisement, such as:-
1. Job Security.
2. Good pay, perks and privileges
3. Great facilities for the trainee.
4. Physical fitness.
5. Exposure to latest Naval Warfare Technology.
3. How does the advertisement communicate what it is like to work at that organization?
Ans:- As the advertisement is quite particular about the physical fitness, the trainees will
have to undergo rigorous training. The candidates will have to clear an SSB interview which
in itself is very challenging and a life time experience even if the candidate does not clear
the stage two. Psychological Tests, Group Task Tests and Interviews suggest that working
for Indian Navy will need the candidate to be a team player, someone who can make correct
decisions even under pressure and has good technical knowledge.
4. Would this job announcement appeal to the types of employees the organization is seeking?
Why or why not?
Ans: The job announcement will definitely appeal to the types of employees the organization is

decision making qualities, have practical knowledge and are responsible, are the ones Indian
Navy is looking for.
5. What recommendations would you have to improve the appeal to qualified candidates?
Ans: I would like to add certain recommendations to make the advertisement for appealing:-
1. The Indian Navy provides a level of security and comfort that is almost unheard of in
civilian life.
2. The ships and submarines of the Indian Navy often visit a number of foreign ports. The men
who serve on these platforms get to visit the numerous foreign ports that these ships and
submarines visit.
3. In Indian Navy, we pride ourselves in providing world-class medical care to each and every
sailor and officer as well as their families.
4. Sailors and Officers enjoy generous leave time.

year. Six travel concessions forms are also authorized to each officer for performing journey
by train.
6. Sailors and Officers alike have access to free and low cost recreational facilities. As a sailor
and officer, working on the ship or a base, it's not just all work and no play. You will have
the opportunity to work and live with other service members, as well as rest and relax away
from the job.
7. Officers and sailors are entitled to free accommodation. Indian Navy takes pride in
providing outstanding living areas and conditions for its Sailors and Officers.
