Right, Wrong & Duty
Right is interest which is closely connected with duty and violation of it is wrong. For
full description of Right we must know Wrong and Duty as well. Salmond defines
them as:
A wrong is simply a wrong act-an act contrary to the rule of right &
justice. Wrong is of two types:
1. Legal Wrong - Which is contrary to legal right that is recognized by law and
sanctioned by state. It is a legal wrong if any one break the traffic rule or if any one
kill someone.
1. Legal duty: A legal duty is an act which is opposite of legal wrong & which
recognized by the law as duty is called Duty. Violation of this duty can bring up
punishment on violator.
2. Moral Duty: A moral duty is created by nature which is opposite of moral wrong.
Sometimes a duty can be both legal & moral. Not to steal is moral & legal duty.
Conclusion:
Right has a duty & if the duty cannot be maintained then it will be a Wrong.
