Buses in SC Controller

The SC controller card contains four main buses - a parallel bus for updating and downloading the backup memory and control modules, a file bus operating as a token passing loop for communication between controllers and I/O modules, a serial bus using RS-422 for external communication, and an I/O bus for transferring process signals between primary and backup control modules.

Bus Configuration in SC Controller

The back plane in the 6202N SC controller card file is composed of four major buses.
They are
1. Parallel Bus(P- Bus)
2. File Bus(F-Bus)
3. Serial Bus
4. I/O Bus

Parallel Bus: The 16bit P-Bus is used for update, upload and downloading of the 6214B
Backup Memory and 6204C Control Modules. It controls 8 bit data bus and control lines
works on master slave protocol. Backup module is master and other control modules are
slaves.

File Bus: The F-Bus is a local bus operating in a token passing loop format and is used
for intermodule communications between controllers, backup controllers, and the 6205B
D/F modules in the controller card file. It is a redundant serial synchronous
communication protocol.

Serial Bus: The serial bus is a RS-422 bus used for communication between external
devices such as programmable logic controllers. The 6204B model D control module also
supports multi drop communication for the smart device interfaces.

I/O Bus: The I/O bus handles the transfer of process I/O signals between primary and
back up 6204B control modules through the 6215 I/O transfer module.
