4.4.7.2 Service Processing Board
DEUa Data Enhancement Processing Unit It is preferentially configured in the MPS. The
REV:a number of DEUa boards to be configured in a
subrack depends on actual requirements and the
number of slots. The number of DEUa boards that
are recommended for a given subrack depends on the
number of DPU boards configured in that subrack.
The more DPU boards that are configured in a given
subrack, the more DEUa boards should also be
configured in the subrack. In the MPS, the DEUa
board can be installed in slots 0 to 9, slots 16 to 19,
and slots 22 to 27. In the EPS, the DEUa board can
be installed in slots 0 to 19, slots 22 to 27.

EGPUa Evolved General Processing Unit 2 EGPUa boards are installed in slots 8 and 9 of the
REV:a MPS to manage resources, EGPUa boards to process
services, install at least two boards in each subrack.
The number of boards to be installed depends on site
requirements and the number of available slots. In
the MPS, the EGPUa board can be installed in slots 0
to 9, slots 16 to 19, and slots 22 to 27. In the EPS, the
EGPUa board can be installed in slots 0 to 19, slots
22 to 27.
EGPUb Evolved General Processing Unit 2 EGPUb boards are installed in slots 8 and
REV:b 9 of the MPS to manage resources, EGPUb
boards to process services, install at least two
boards in each subrack. The number of boards to
be installed depends on site requirements and the
number of available slots. In the MPS, the
EGPUb board can be installed in slots 0 to 9, slots
16 to 19, and slots 22 to 27. In the EPS, the
EGPUb board can be installed in slots 0 to 19,
slots 22 to 27.
ENIUa Evolved Network Intelligence Unit If the subrack is a Main Processing Subrack (MPS),
REV:a the ENIU board can be configured only in slots 0 to
7, 10 to 13, 16 to 19, and 22 to 27. If the subrack is
not an MPS, the ENIU board can be configured only
in slots 0 to 19 and 22 to 27. If SCUb boards are
configured in a subrack, the ENIU board must be

Functions The DEUa board The EGPUa/EGPUb board Performs service awareness
provides the following supports multiple functions and PS service quality
functions: through software configuration: measurement functions:
Provides the

resolve the one-way
audio problem. In
the adaptive
multirate
narrowband (AMR-
NB) TrFO scenario,
when the local rate
adjustment fails, and
voice frames that do
not meet the peer
rate requirement
exist on the uplink,
the local RNC
performs the code
conversion.
Specifically, the
local RNC converts
the rate of 12.2
kbit/s to the target
rate in the RATE

message. This
conversion resolves
the one-way audio
problem caused by
voice frame rate
inconsistency of the

POOLOM subsystem Collects traffic statistics on the overflow RNC user plane.
UMTS user-plane subsystem Processes UMTS RNC user-plane protocols, including L2 protocols

NOTE:
Each specification on the board processing capability refers to the maximum value allowed when the board
is used to process the corresponding service alone. For example, if an EGPUa/EGPUb board processing UMTS
RNC control-plane and user-plane services supports a PS throughput rate of 2,000 Mbit/s, it cannot process any
BHCA or CS service.
"CS data service" in the table refers to the 64 kbit/s video phone service.
