INTRODUCTION
Good morning, and welcome to our Remembrance Day prayer service. Today is November 11th – the
day we remember those who have served with Canada’s Armed Forces. We remember their sacrifices
for the sake of peace, and pause to honour them in reflection and prayer.
OPENING SONG
Please join in our opening song
(Sugg: Lord, Make us Servants of Your Peace CBWIII No. 630; Peace Prayer Glory & Praise, No. 652
[ vv 1‐3 at beginning, vv 4‐6 at end of prayer]; Be Not Afraid CBWIII No. 481)
OPENING PRAYER
Let us begin our prayer, In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Let us pray... Lord, many persons we know and love have served in our Armed Forces to help make the
world a more peaceful place. We lift them up to you – those who have died and those still with us. May
our prayer today help bring them and their loved ones comfort, peace and hope. We make this prayer
to You in the name of Jesus, the Lord. Amen.
READING
A reading from the prophet Isaiah
In days to come, the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established as the highest of the mountains,
and shall be raised above the hills; all the nations shall stream to it. Many peoples shall come and say,
‘Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; that he may teach us
his ways and that we may walk in his paths.’
For out of Zion shall go forth instruction, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. He shall judge
between the nations, and shall arbitrate for many peoples; they shall beat their swords into
ploughshares, and their spears into pruning‐hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation,
neither shall they learn war any more.
The word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.
MOMENT OF SILENCE
Let us pause for a moment of silence as we remember God’s promise of peace, and all who have served
in our armed forces to help bring peace to our world.

CLOSING PRAYER
Lord, You sent Your Son to lead us into the peace of Your Kingdom. Look with kindness on all who have
served the cause of peace in our armed forces. Send Your comfort and healing to their families, and to
all who suffer due to war and conflict. May Your Son’s Gospel message of peace burn ever more brightly
in our hearts, our words and our actions, and lead all to fullness of life in You. We make this prayer to
you through this same Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
And may Almighty God bless us: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.
