III. Preparatory Activities
A. Routinary activities
1. Greetings
2. Checking of classroom environment
3. Checking of attendance

B. Pirming/Recall
The teacher will have a review about the previous laboratory activity: Principles of Microscopy.
The teacher will ask the students what have they observe in the lab activity last week, and the importance
of microscope in the field of biology.

IV. Lesson Proper


A. Engage
The teacher will introduce the students to the topic by giving different situation.
1. Putting on a perfume
2. Putting teabag in a cup
B. Explore
The teacher will ask the students what have they observe or what happens with the following.
C. Explain
In the following situation, students must be able to notice how molecules move from a high
concentration to an area of low concentration. When someone uses a perfume on and is near you, the
molecules will travel from that person (which is of high concentration) into you (which is of low
concentration).
On the other example, when you put a teabag on a cup of hot water, teabag, which serves as a permeable
membrane, with the smaller particles of tea leaves pass through it, causing molecules to move through the
water.
D. Elaborate
I. Definition of Diffusion
It is the movement of substance from an area of higher concentration to low concentration.
Individual molecules move randomly, until evenly dispersed throughout an area. How is it related
to cell? Cells have its outer covering called cell membrane, which is selectively permeable,
meaning, it allows objects to pass through it. It controls what moves in and out of the cell.
Examples are the food and oxygen. It passes through the membrane through the process of
diffusion.
II. Definition of Osmosis
It is a diffusion of water across a selectively permeable membrane. It occurs when water moves
from an area where it is more concentrated to an area of less concentration. What makes the
osmosis differ from diffusion? Osmosis only happen on water, while diffusion applies on all other
substances.
III. Types of Osmosis
A. Hypertonic Solution
B. Hypotonic Solution
C. Isotonic Solution
V. Assessment/Evaluation
The teacher will hand activity worksheets to students. Read through the worksheet and ask
students to ensure students know what to do in the activity. Students will finish the worksheet, and once
done will submit to teacher.
