Sample Lesson Plan Science

The lesson plan discusses cells, including defining and describing cells, explaining their importance and functions, and differentiating between prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. Key points include that cells are the basic unit of living organisms, they were first discovered by Robert Hooke in 1665, and cells are categorized as either prokaryotic (simpler, single-celled) or eukaryotic (more complex with organelles and a nucleus).

III.PROCEDURE
A. PREPARATION
Teacher's Activity Student's Activity

Good morning class! Good morning Ma'am!

Before we start let us pray first. (One of the students will lead the prayer.)

Class please arrange your seats (students will arrange the seats)
properly

Okay, before we start I will check first

the attendance. If you’re present tell
me your mood for today (happy, sad,
energetic......) (students tell their moods)

before we start the new lesson let us

first recall what we have discussed (Students will raise their hands)
last time

yes student A (student will summarizes the last lesson)

Thank you student A.

B. MOTIVATION
Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity
Our today’s topic is about the
introduction on cell and the types of
cell, the prokaryotic cell and the
eukaryotic cell.

I believe you have a prior knowledge

about this. Anyone from the class who
can share their idea about cell??
(Student raises their hands)
(teacher will call a name)

Yes student E? What is your idea

about cell? Cell is the basic unit or foundation of life
ma’am
I‘m glad to hear that you mentioned
about the “basic unit of life” thank you
student E.

Before we proceed to our lesson for

today which let me show you a video
presentation first... (Students are watching)

Make sure you understand well the

video later on I will be asking you
some questions Yes ma'am

(after watching the videos)

Okay class what have you understand (Student raises their hands)
from the video?

Yes students B Ma’am I have notice that cell is the basic unit
of life.

Thank you student B. Another

please? (Student raises their hands)

Yes student C Ma’am cell has two types the prokaryotic and
eukaryotic cell.
.
Yes, that’s good. Thank you Student C
C. LESSON PROPER
Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

So class as I have mentioned a while ago our

topic for today is CELL. And what is a cell?
(students randomly answers)
Have you wondered what composes our
body? Okay, so our body is made up of
trillions of building blocks of life called cells. A
cell is the smallest unit of a living organism
that is responsible for all structural,
biochemical, and logical functions of an
organism.

Do you who discovered cell?

(raise their hands)

yes students F
Robert Hooke ma’am

That’s right. Cells were discovered by an

English scientist, Robert Hooke in 1665. He
was looking at a thin slice of cork under a
microscope then he saw that the cork
showed regular patterns of tiny, open
spaces. The pattern reminded him of tiny
rooms that he called "cells". The cells Hooke
saw were dead. They were the remains of
cells that were once alive but it plays a vital
role because it opened the study of cells.

Okay, class. What do you think about why we (raise their hands)
need to study the cells? Any idea?

Student F please share your idea with the We need to study cells simply because
class we, organisms are made up of
thousands of cells.

Very good, thank you Student F

The functions of cells are what make the cell

very important. What are those? As you’ve
seen in the chart, the body of all living
organisms is made up of one or more cells
as students f was saying. It’s the
organizational diagram that shows how cells
made up a whole organism. From cells to
tissues, tissues to organs, organs to organ
systems, organ systems to organism. Our
body activities for every day are performed
by cells. Cells carry out thousands of
biochemical reactions each minute and
reproduce new cells that perpetuate life and
also cells carry hereditary units.
(student ask a question)
Is that why my hair is curly brown
because my mom had curly brown too
right?

Yes, the reason why you hair is curly brown

like your mother's is because there's a
special inside a cell but we will discuss that
soon so let's move on to the classification of
cells.

Okay Class, cells have different sizes and

shapes. The sizes and shapes of different
kinds of cells fit the different functions they
perform.Scientists categorized cells into two
broad classifications.
Can you give me the two classifications of
the cell?

Yes student E
(raise their hands)

What else?
one classification of cells is eukaryotic
cells

That's right. Okay class! Prokaryotic cells are

The other one is the prokaryotic cells.
simple, singled-cell, and do not have a
nucleus or other membrane-bound
organelles. While eukaryotes or organisms
with eukaryotic cells are living things whose
cells contain a nucleus and organelles.
Eukaryotic means "true kernel" or "true
nucleus" because of the presence of the
nucleus.

Prokaryotic cell is a type of cell that is mostly

found in bacteria. However, the cell found on
animals and plant is classified as a
eukaryotic cell.
As you can see in the picture prokaryotic cell
is more simple compared to eukaryotic cell
which is more complex.
Class, Do you know what organelle is?

yes ma'am
Who can give me the meaning of organelles?

Yes student C

(raise their hands)

Ma’am organelles are a structure that is

enclosed within its own membrane
Okay very good. The word “organelle” inside a cell and has a particular
means “little organ,” and, as already function.
mentioned, organelles have specialized
cellular functions, just as the organs of your
body have specialized functions. Is it clear?

Are there any questions or clarifications

regarding our topic for today?

If it’s clear. We are done defining the cell, its

importance, functions, and the two
classifications. Next meeting we will be going None ma’am.
to discuss the parts of the cells and their
functions. I want you to read in advance.

Yes ma’am
D. GENERALIZATION
Teacher's Activity Student's Activity

Okay class can someone summarize

our topic for today? (Students raise their hands)

Yes student B.

Ma’am today we learned about cell which is

the basic unit of life and it plays a vital role in
every organism. It was discovered by an
Englishscientist Robert Hooke.There are two
classifications of cells we have discussed a
while ago the Prokaryotic cell that has no true
nucleus and organelles and the eukaryotic
cell has a true nucleus and organelles.

Very good Thank you student B.

Now bring out ¼ sheet of paper for a (students reactions are different)
short quiz.

IV. ASSESSMENT
*Instructions: In a ¼ sheet of paper identify what is being asked.
1. What is the basic unit of structure and function in all living things?
2. Who is the scientist who discovered and coined the term “cell”?
3. What is the cell classification or type that is simple and do not have membrane-bound
organelles?
4. What is the classification or type of cell that is more complex containing membrane-
bound organelles?
5. Give one function that a cell can do.
6-10.
Write down your key takeaways (what have you learned) and muddiest point (what is
unclear to you) in our lesson for today.

V. ASSIGNMENT
1. Draw plant and animal cells in a long bond paper and identify the cell parts.
2. Read in advance about the cell structure.
