Immersion, and Work Immersion commenced through an opening prayer followed by the singing of the
National Anthem. Then, Dr Noemi Bayle, the Principal of SVNHS, cordially welcomed the guests, speakers,
and the participants for the event. After that, Dr Isidro Aguilar, the Chief CID of the Division of TAPAT,
delivered his inspirational message by challenging all the Practical Research, and Work Immersion
teachers to uphold excellence in their craft of molding the young minds of their students. It was further
stressed by Dr. Carleen Sedilla, the OIC of SDS Division of TAPAT emphasizing the significant and
indispensable role of PR, III and Work Immersion teachers as frontliners and soldiers of the Department
of Education in the realization of the K-12 Program.
Then, Ms Marilyn Nogalo, a SH English teacher of SVNHS, presented the statement of purpose for the 2-
day seminar, that is, to clarify the roles, responsibilities and nature of teaching and/or supervising Practical
Research, III, and Work Immersion, respectively. Subsequently, Mr. Noel Balubal, the Education
Supervisor for English along with Ms Nogalo, discussed the Review of Related Literature, its definition,
parts, and the ways on how to effectively construct one in preparation for the full-blown research in III.
After that, Dr Leticia Andor, the Education Supervisor of Science, presented the know-hows in drafting a
qualitative research and capstone research. She underscored the idea that PRs 1 and 2, and III should be
taken by SH strands regardless of tracks but only STEM students can take the Capstone Research in lieu
of the Work Immersion though they are strongly encouraged to undergo Work Immersion.
After lunchbreak, Mr. Carlos Cordova, a SH Mathematics teacher from TSHS, explained the essentials of
writing a quantitative research by skillfully discussing its types and purposes, distinguishing one from the
other which further enriched the understanding of the participants on the topic. Consequently, Mr.
Norman Billones, SH Science Teacher from provided an effective Research Plan that the participants
can adopt in their research classes. Also, he engaged them in drafting a sample research plan of any topic
related to a certain strand which was presented eventually.
Finally, Dr. Arlie Bilaro, the PSDS-Cluster 5 & SH Focal Person for the Division of TAPAT discussed Deped
Order no. 30, series of 2017 which is the Guidelines for Work Immersion. She eloquently
