Blessings of Heaven
Romans 5:6-8 For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For
one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare
even to die—but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
James 1:12 Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test
he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.
Revelation 2:10 (KJV) Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall
cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou
faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
1 Corinthians 9:25-27 (KJV) And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all
things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. I therefore so run,
not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: But I keep under my body, and
bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should
be a castaway.
1 Peter 5:1-4 So I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings
of Christ, as well as a partaker in the glory that is going to be revealed: shepherd the flock of
God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would
have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly; not domineering over those in your charge,
but being examples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive
the unfading crown of glory.
Crown of Righteousness
2 Timothy 4:8 Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the
Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day, and not only to me but also to all who
have loved his appearing.
1 Thessalonians 2:19-20 For what is our hope or joy or crown of boasting before our Lord
Jesus at his coming? Is it not you?For you are our glory and joy.
Examples of Blessings for Obedience
Exodus 16:26 “If you will diligently listen to the voice of the LORD your God, and do that
which is right in his eyes, and give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will put
none of the diseases on you that I put on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, your healer.”
Deuteronomy 7:13 He will love you, bless you, and multiply you. He will also bless the fruit of
your womb and the fruit of your ground, your grain and your wine and your oil, the increase of
your herds and the young of your flock, in the land that he swore to your fathers to give you.
Jeremiah 7:5-7 “For if you truly amend your ways and your deeds, if you truly execute justice
one with another, if you do not oppress the sojourner, the father-less, or the widow, or shed
innocent blood in this place, and if you do not go after other gods to your own harm, then I will
let you dwell in this place, in the land that I gave of old to your fathers forever…”
Zechariah 3:7-9 Thus says the LORD of hosts: If you will walk in my ways and keep my charge,
then you shall rule my house and have charge of my courts, and I will give you the right of
access among those who are standing here. Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, you and your
friends who sit before you, for they are men who are a sign: behold, I will bring my servant the
Branch. For behold, on the stone that I have set before Joshua, on a single stone with seven
eyes, I will engrave its inscription, declares the LORD of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of
this land in a single day…”
Matthew 10:21-22 Brother will deliver brother over to death, and the father his child, and
children will rise against parents and have them put to death, and you will be hated by all for my
name’s sake. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.
James 1:2 Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know
that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that
you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
Sometimes blessings are disguised by trials. The Christian song writer Laura Story wrote a song
during a time in her life when she wondered about blessings because God was not answering her
prayers the way she wanted. Sometimes God gives us trials so that we can see the blessings in
the end. I posted Laura’s “Blessings” song below, click on the play button and you can listen to it
as you continue to read this article.
2 Chronicles 1:11-12 God answered Solomon, “Because this was in your heart, and you have
not asked possessions, wealth, honor, or the life of those who hate you, and have not even asked
long life, but have asked wisdom and knowledge for yourself that you may govern my people
over whom I have made you king, and knowledge are granted to you. I will also give you riches,
possessions, and honor, such as none of the kings had who were before you, and none after you
shall have the like.”
Luke 17:13 …”Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.” When he saw them he said to them, ”Go
and show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went they were cleansed. (Jesus heals of
leprosy)
Luke 24:30-34 When he was at table with them, he took the bread and blessed and broke it and
gave it to them. And their eyes were opened, and they recognized him. And he vanished from
their sight. They said to each other, “Did not our hearts burn within us while he talked to us on
the road, while he opened to us the Scriptures?” And they rose that same hour and returned to
Jerusalem. And they found the eleven and those who were with them gathered together, saying,
“The Lord has risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon!” (after the Lord appeared to them on
the road to Emmaus and they did not recognize the risen Lord)
Acts 9:17-19 So Ananias departed and entered the house. And laying his hands on him he said,
“Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus who appeared to you on the road by which you came has sent me
so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”And immediately something
like scales fell from his eyes, and he regained his sight. Then he rose and was
baptized; and taking food, he was strengthened. (The conversion of Paul of Tarsus)
