    1. Purpose
    To inform all ASCs of method to test for SIM fault symptoms on Galaxy S4 (GT-I9505)

    2. Symptom
    Intermittent or permanent SIM detection fail (No SIM)

    3. Instruction
    1) Check Voltage level for "SIM VCC" 30 seconds after booting up the device has
    completed. Please see picture below for the test point to check "SIM VCC":

    When you check SIM VCC, this

    part (orange color) should NOT

    be pressed down. (i.e. do not

    apply pressure in this region)

    Please note: When you check "SIM VCC", the rear cover and screw must be
    assembled i.e. fitted to the device being tested.
    To enable you to check "SIM VCC" with the rear cover and screws fitted, please create
    a "test rear cover" by making a test rear cover from a SPARE PART in which you make
    a hole to access the test point to check for "SIM VCC.

    Refer to below picture to see where a hole should be made in your "Test" rear
    cover:

    This part is cut to open to create a

    probing access point so you can

    check for "SIM VCC".

    2) Test: "SIM VCC" Voltage; If SIM VCC voltage level is similar to the "Malfunction
    case", there is problem with the "NFC IC". (e.g. a dry solder joint or possible faulty
    NFC IC)

    4) Solution
    1) Re-solder (heat) area of the NFC IC "ball crack point",
    referring to below location diagram.

    2) If re-soldering does not solve the problem, replace NFC IC.
