master plan.

Ensure that server room location is no more than


100m (330 feet) total from any wiring closet.

Proposed server room is large enough to space


apart equipment and accommodate future growth.

Proposed server room has an area ratio roughly


equal to 0.75 square feet per 100 square feet of
user workspace.

Reasonable distance away from water pipes,


steam pipes, kitchens, or any other source of
moisture.

Determine physical location of servers within the


room.

Confirm minimum electrical requirements for


server room (e.g. 30 amps on dedicated circuit).

Form a floor plan of server room: identify location


of equipment.

Check for/have installed fire-rated door(s).

Install fire, water, smoke, and power quality


detectors.

Determine and install optimal fire suppression


system.

Ensure server room air quality with filters, air


conditioner or heater, and
humidifier/dehumidifier.

Install anti-static flooring, raised flooring, and/or


server pedestals.

Mount patch panel(s) for voice and data.

Install and test surge protectors and UPS.

furniture.
