1. INTRODUTION TO MOSES 01
HULL MODELLER &
STABILITY
1. Hull Modeler is a powerful three-dimensional surface modelling system for use in the
field of marine design. It provides you with a clear and familiar environment in which
to work, allowing for systematic experimentation and rapid optimisation of any new
design.
3. Highly accurate output is produced in the form of hull lines, transfer files for other
programs, and comprehensive offsets tables. Data transfer to other programs in the
Hull Modeler suite is from a Hull Modeler design file, alleviating the need for the re-
entry of data once a design has been finalized, and removing the possibility of loss of
accuracy through the use of incomplete hull offset files.
MOSES STABILITY:
3. Stability is designed in a logical manner, which makes it easy to use. The following
steps are followed when performing an analysis:
Input model
Analysis type selection
Analysis settings
Environment options
Criteria specification and selection
Run analysis
Output

2.STRUCTURAL DESIGN AND ANALYSIS OF AN TENSION LEG PLATFORM
AIM:
To design the Tension Leg Platform and calculation using MOSES.
DEFINITION:
A Tension Leg Platform (TLP) or Extended platform is a vertically moored floating structure
normally used for the offshore production of oil or gas and is particularly suited for water
depths greater than 300 meters and less than 1500 meters.
STRUCTURE PARAMETERS:
Length – 30 m
Breadth – 30 m
Draught – 60 m
Displacement - 52,000 tonnes
PROCEDURE:
Designing Steps:
Step-1: Open MOSES Hull modeller.
Step-2: Select plan view and focus to plain view.
Step-3: Select line and draw the plan view of a TLP structure using the dimensions given.
Step-4: Select the surface and give extrude command to extrude the surface by using given
dimensions.
Step-5: Use break curve command in all plate and reverse the curve to make skin curve
Step-6: Use circle command and draw circle using given dimension.
Step-7: Trim the surface of circles using trim command.
Step-8: Go to data selected frame of reference and give the value of aft and forward
perpendicular and set to Design waterline (DWL).
Step-9: Save the design and mention name to it.
Step-10: Go to design in data command.
Step-11: Add sections, waterlines and buttock lines etc...
Step-12: Divide the lines according to the given data.
Tank Creation:
Step-1: Open MOSES stability.
Step-2: Go to room definition window and create the tanks according to given data.

Tank Calibration:
Step-1: Go to tank calibration option and start analysis.
Step-2: To get the result values, go to room results window.
GZ Curves:
Step-1: Go to large angle stability.
Step-2: Go to analysis and click on heel option, enter the degree values of starboard and port.
Step-3: Start the analysis to get the graph and go to graph window to view it.
Hydrostatics:
Step-1: Go to upright hydrostatics.
Step-2: Go to analysis, and click the draft option, gives the values of draft range.
Step-3: Start analysis, to get the results got to current result window.
Equilibrium:
Step-1: Go to equilibrium.
Step-2: Go to analysis and click the wave form option, put the value of wavelength and wave
height.
Step-3: Start analysis.
K N Values:
Step-1: Go to KN value
Step-2: Go to analysis and select displacement option.
Step-3: Give the values of initial and final displacement.
Step-4: Start analysis, and to get the graph go to graph window option.
RESULT:
Thus we found out the values of tank calibration , GZ curves, Hydrostatics, Equilibrium and
KN values with graphical representation, of the TLP structure design in MOSES.

AIM:
To design the Semi-submersible structure and calculation using MOSES.
DEFINITION:
A Semi-submersible rig or a self elevating unit is a type of mobile platform that consists of a
buoyant hull fitted with a number of movable legs, capable of raising its hull even the sea.
STRUCTURE PARAMETERS:
Length – 34 m
Breadth – 25 m
Draught – 10 m
Displacement - 3800 tonnes

Designing Steps:
Step-1: Open MOSES Hull modeller.
Step-2: Select plan view and focus to plain view.
Step-3: Select line and draw the plan view of a Semi-submersible structure using the
dimensions given.
Step-4: Select the surface and give extrude command to extrude the surface by using given
dimensions.
