Experiment 5:: Solution: Step 1: Step 2

This document provides 11 steps for conducting an ANSYS simulation to analyze a bar structure under loading. The steps include opening ANSYS, defining the problem as structural, selecting element and material properties, defining nodes and elements, applying displacements and forces as boundary conditions, solving the problem, and reviewing results through animation of the deformed shape.

Experiment 5:

Solution:
Step 1:
Open ansys on your desktop computer and enter the Job name.
Step 2:
Start the problem by selecting structural in preferences menu.

Step 3:
Select the element type link in the preprocessor phase

Step 4:
Define real constants and add link180 and then enter the area of
each element.
Here the areas are:
A1= A2= A3= A4= A5= A6= 8 in2

Step 5:
Select the material models in preprocessor > Structural > Linear
> isotropic. Enter the values of E and v given in the problem.
Step 6:
Now define the nodes (depending upon given no of elements
and total length) in preprocessor modeling > nodes > In Active
CS
Step 7:
Now define the elements in elements attributes as shown and
then auto numbered > thru nodes (select 2 nodes to define each
element). Select material number 1 for each real constant set
number.
Step 8:
Apply displacement and force on the nodes , in solution menu,
given in the problem as explained.

Here:
Displacements: Node 1 and Node 3 = All DOF zero.
Forces: Node 4 and node 5= -500 in Fy Direction.
Step 9:
For solving the problem click solution > Solve > Current LS and
then press OK for the solution.

Step 10:
Nodal Solution and elemental solution can be checked in the
Genral Postproc menu.
Step 11:
We animated the bar problem by clicking plotctrls > animate >
deformed results.
