Internet is a wonderful invention of modern times, and a great source of

communication and information.

2. ADVANTAGES OF INTERNET:

a) Large volume of information

b) Electronic Mode of Communication

c) A great source of entertainment

d) Helpful in making online purchases

e) Online business is also possible through this great invention.

3. DISADVANTAGES OF INTERNET:

a) Seldom moments of peace in our life.

b) Financial Burden in the form of bills.

c) Disorganised material.

d) Too much addiction leads us towards frustration.

e) The physical distance among loved ones in increasing.

f) People get Confused with too many choices.

Internet is a wonderful invention of modern times. It is a great source of

getting information and communication. The word “internet” flashes many images

upon the canvas of the human mind. Internet is a global network of inter-connected

computers, to any other computer, in any portion of the world. The recent
introduction of mobile internet is also very successful.

The key to success of internet is the information. The better the quality, the

more usage of internet operation.

Internet is a useful invention. It has a lot of advantages and uses which help

people in almost all the fields of life. Internet is a most thing which is used now a

days. Internet has increased communication very fast. It is advantageous if boys

and girls use it in good purposes. Acquiring information by using internet has

become very easy.

Internet can be used to collect information from around the world. This

information could relate to education, medicine, literature, software, computers,

business, entertainment, friendship and leisure. People can search for information

by visiting the home page of various search engines such as Google, Yahoo, Bing

etc. All the newspapers, magazines and journals of the world are available on the

internet. A person can get the latest news about the world in a matter of few

minutes.

It is an electronic mode of communication. Internet has given the most exciting

mode of communication to all. We can send an E-mail to all the corners of the

world. We can chat with our friends and relatives using any one of the chatting

softwares.

Apart from a major source of knowledge and information, the utility of internet
in the field of entertainment cannot be undermined. Entertainment is a popular

reason why many people surf the internet. Downloading games, going into chat

rooms or just surfing the Web are some of the uses people have discovered. Chat

rooms are popular because users can meet new and interesting people. Infact, the

internet has been used by people to find life long partners. Music, hobbies, news

and more can be found on the internet.

Online purchasing is also a big advantage of internet. Shopping online has also

become a huge success and is considered a great advantage of the internet. No

matter what people are shopping for, it can be found on the internet. People do not

even have to leave their homes. A few companies have collected millions of

dollars using the internet for selling. Clothing is probably one of the most bought

items online. Almost every major clothing store has its own Website.

Internet is also used for carrying out business operations and that set of

operation is known as Electronic Commerce. Many business Companies and

business persons promote their business through internet. In this way they spread

their business all over the world.

The use of internet can also be seen in the field of banking transactions. Many

banks offer online banking facilities to their customers. They can transfer funds

from one account to another using the net-banking facility.

These above mentioned aspects are the advantages of internet. Along with its

advantages there are some disadvantages of internet.

With the turn in century, and with the invention and usage of internet; people

lost peace get too much addicted to this invention. They use internet almost all the
time and when there is not internet the fell frustration. It is peace snatching in a

sense that a person communicate and deal with others through internet. Through e-

mails, chattings, etc. thus sense of responsibility increases and a person always feel

like a fish out of water without internet.

The use of internet can add in one’s financial obligations to some extent as one

is needed an expensive computer or a laptop for the task. On the other hand, people

have to pay for the internet bills or well as for some websites to read stuff online.

Another disadvantage of internet is that the material that we get for our

information is mostly disorganized as compared the liberaries where books are

arranged in an alphabetical order to facilitate the researchers. Moreover, the

material provided on the internet is not comprehensive rather superficial one.

Another negative aspect of internet is that now a day people of all ages become

too much addicted with internet that they even don’t have time for their close

relations. Internet has increased the physical distance between relations.

Internet is also a burden and harmful for eyes and other physical parts of

human beings. So, along with advantages it has some disadvantages.

To conclude, internet is very useful for everyone. It is the super highway of

information. The cost of internet has been reduced over-time. The possibilities on

internet are endless. However, some people waste their time while surfing through

various websites. Some other try to view those websites that are not meant for

them. This is a bad tendency and must be checked. Today’s society is in the middle

of a technological boom. People can either choose to take advantage of this era, or

simply let it pass by them. The internet is a very powerful tool. It has many

advantages; however, people need to be extremely aware of the disadvantages as


well.
