BLACK BOX
ABSTRACT
As the technology is progressing, the speed of traveling is also increased. The source to
destination became so closer to each other. With any airplane crash, there are many
unanswered questions as to what bought the plane down. Investigators turn to the airplane’s
flight data recorder (FDR) and cockpit voice recorder (CVR), also known as “black boxes” for
answers.FDR is designed to record the operating data from the plane’s system. Solid-state
recorders in large aircraft can track more than 700 parameters. If an accident occurs and a
standard recorder is submerged, a locator beacon activates and emits an ultrasonic acoustic
signal for 30 days, during which time recovery will hopefully occur. That signal has been
improved, and now 90 days of uninterrupted operation is possible with select newer models.
There’s even the ability to see exactly what was happening in the cockpit, rather than just
relying on a recording of what was said. Curtiss-Wright's video black box system is dubbed
“AIR,” or Airborne Image Recorder. There are sensors that are wired from various areas on
the plane to the flight-data acquisition unit, which is wired to the FDR. It can store up to 25
hours of flight data. Many new developments like floating black box, airplane buddy system,
and underwater echoes. They are considered indestructible
