Mise-en-scene
Editing:
This clip begins with a montage of the city, which helps show the
audience where it is set, which is in the city. Through the use of faced
paced clips and the montage, it is conventional to the genre of comedy
as comedy’s pace is faster than other genres as it is to show off a funny
element of the clip. We also then have an establishing shot to show us the corridor it is set in and
the worker himself. The use of the pace varies throughout the video, as at the start it shows fast-
pasted clips to establish where it is set and to show the genre and then throughout the clip there are
slow paced moments, like when the agent feel and died we had a close up of his face and then a
slow paced camera movement to show us what he is thinking. The used of cuts in the video from
different angles helps us to see the struggle he goes through to move the body. This has been used
so that the audience can see that he is trying hard to hide it and the cuts are conventional to the
genre as the multiple cuts shows us his struggle of picking up his body, we can see this as 0:53 in the
video. Throughout this video they always use a quick pace; this is often seen in the comedy genre
and makes this video conventional to the comedy genre.
Cinematography:
Sound:
The film is full of diegetic sound, such as the slipping over onto the
floor and the dragging of the body and then the struggle of the man
trying to hide it all. These are sounds that are all due to the
environment he is in; the sound of the body being dragged to the
elevator is sounds that are already there due to the friction against
the floor and the buttons of the elevator. The use of this helps
making it funny, as there is no dialogue it is all facial expression and environmental sounds such as
the panic on his face but the dragging of his body. Another technique that features throughout this
film is non diegetic music which has been added. In the lift they have added music in which is funny
and has also featured in other comedic films. This music makes the scene funnier when the doors
open and the man is gobsmacked that he is lifting him up in the lift. The music makes the scene
funnier and this makes it more conventional to the comedy genre.
