PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
March 2015 – Till Date Engineering Automation Technology Limited
- Project focal point for coating, field joint coating (FJC) and insulation specification, testing, qualification
and selection (PQT, PPT, Production). Undertake responsibility for production of deliverables, which may
include engineering support to the Drawing Office, design calculations, specifications, qualification,
testing, procedures, analyses, progress reports, bid evaluations, study reports and various 3rd-party
deliverables.
- Cathodic protection design for pipelines, bundle carrier pipes, manifold towheads, spools, FLETS,
structures and associated piping. I have been responsible for cathodic protection design, design report
writing, reviewing and approving junior engineers’ cathodic protection design report. Project
management and interfacing with cathodic protection equipment manufacturer.
- Supporting tendering department and SCM by preparing technical scopes of work for various
packages, producing cost, time, resource (CTR) and providing technical support to the tendering team. I
have provided tendering support on reel lay, S-lay and J-lay pipelines projects proffering solutions on
how best to make use of the few work stations available on the vessels (Seven Borealis, Seven Navica)
offshore and achieve desired cycle times. These are also influenced by efficient field joint coating
selection strategy, identification of viable sub-contractors to apply the FJC offshore and management of
offshore field joint coating equipment.
- Managing pipeline fabrication at spoolbase and supervising coating inspectors and sub-contractor
employees. Successfully completed two reeled projects as a Lead Engineer responsible for corrosion,
coating, field joint coating and cathodic protection utilizing the Leith Scotland and Vigra Norway
spoolbase respectively. Completed the first reeled pipeline at Leith Scotland spoolbase after it was
reopened.

- Visiting coating plants, fabrication facilities conducting audits and pre-qualification trials for coating
and cathodic protection. Attended qualification and production at Socotherm Adria Italy, Bredero Shaw
Orkanger, Bredero Shaw Ellon, MCPS Southshields, Impalloy Walsall and Tata Steel Hartlepool facilities.
- Designing internal corrosion protection for carrier pipes and tubular utilizing corrosion inhibitors
(Biocide inhibitors). This is a critical requirement to ensure that there is no corrosion within an enclosed
system or where access to cathodic protection is limited.
- Ensure all latest revisions of procedures, specifications and project documents are made available to
the suppliers prior to KOM, PPM and interfacing with all internal discipline. Managing timely review and
approval process of supplier documents.
- Supporting the Supply Chain Specialist and ultimately responsible for the management of all aspects of
project based deliverables to ensure the safe and timely delivery of project scopes in line with the
project requirements. Ensure project milestones are achieved and maintained by closely monitoring
suppliers and identify any potential delays, flagging up concerns early and assist in any recovery plans
whilst proactively providing technical support to the project team. Provide point of contact between
supplier and project thereby minimizing sub-contract/supplier confusion during project execution.
- Ensure all latest revisions of procedures, specifications and project documents are made available to
the suppliers prior to KOM, PPM and interfacing with all internal discipline. Managing timely review and
approval process of supplier documents.
- Engaging in end of project lesson learned with sub-contractors especially anode vendors, pipe mills and
coating plant operators. This responsibility is a critical part of my tasks in my role and there is
requirement for continuous improvement, general cost saving skills and de-briefing suppliers in general.
This also affords me opportunity to share project experiences with our key suppliers. I have managed
Tata Steel, Socotherm Italy, Socotherm Argentina, Impalloy UK and MCPS UK helping deliver projects in
a safe, cost effective and efficient manner.
- Procurement support, tender review & clarifications. Conducting design verifications on third party
documents to ensure compliance to standard engineering practice, applicable international standards
and project specifications.
- Managing spoolbase, pipe mill, coating plant, fabrication site and anode vendor MOC (management of
change) and TQ (technical qualifications) to ensure all actions and agreed changes are captured and
implemented. This also includes requirement for all stakeholders to be part of any decision making
resulting to onsite changes.
- Project engineering and single point of contact for coating and cathodic protection matters. Ensures
project and HS&E compliance and adherence to project budget & schedule.

- Managing internal disciplines (QA/QC, HSE, Fabrication, Operation, Projects, Transport/Logistics, SCM,
and Design & Drawing Office). Training and mentoring young engineers and supporting team members
to achieve engineering recognitions and join engineering professional bodies.
- Managing coating, insulation and cathodic protection sub-contractors. I also engage manufacturers
who supply sub-contractor raw materials to ensure all supply chain function are in compliance with
standards and overall systems improvement.
- Technical audit, Vendor review and selection. Strong emphases on ensuring vendors and sub-
contractors continuously improve and meet the challenges of delivering projects safely, on time and in a
cost effective way.
- Witnessing and supervising testing and qualifications at coating plants, spoolbase, anode foundry,
fabrication yards.
- Scheduling meetings, organising conference calls and PPM. Multi-tasking and managing many projects
with different scopes concurrently.
- Reviewing ITP, Quality plan, MPS and procedures from sub-contractor, fabricators, vendors and pipe
coaters. Preparing project drawings and datasheet. Writing corrosion and coating procedures,
specifications and reports.
Design of CP system for FTA, Flow lines, SSIVs and Caisson Suction Anchors.
Review of corrosion and coating requirements for mooring chains.
Cathodic Protection report for sacrificial anode system requirement for FTA & SSIVs.
Review and checking of the SD2 cathodic protection design brief.
Review of Infield flow lines cathodic protection design report.
*Interface responsibility with onshore design consultant to ensure pipeline integrity and compatibility of
corrosion control and prevention solutions (CP, coatings, I/Js, etc.).
Procurement support and technical tender review (RFI & RFP stages).
